I just added a new item to eBay, Equal Earth Wall Map (Physical)!

Did you know the map most of us grew up with makes Greenland look almost the same size as Africa, when Africa is actually around 14 times bigger? Today the UN is voting on whether to move away from that old Mercator map in favour of the Equal Earth projection, which shows countries at their true size. We have had a lot of visitors to our Equal Earth Wall Map pages today, so if you fancy a more accurate map for your home, office or classroom, now is a great time to take a look. Available in Political and Physical versions. Have a browse on the MapShop website.

Ever wondered what the world looks like underneath? We put our Hobo-Dyer equal area map through an X-ray. Strip away the colour and you're left with pure structure: real borders, true proportions, and a projection that was designed from the start to challenge the way we're used to seeing the world. Unlike the map most of us grew up with, the Hobo-Dyer shows every country and continent at its genuine relative size, rather than stretched and shrunk depending on how close it sits to the poles. It's the same familiar outline of the world, just seen a different way.

What do you think?

The full Hobo-Dyer collection, in Traditional, Modern, Relief and Flags editions, is available now as A2, A1 and A0 prints. Find your favourite at MapShop.

Kitting out your classroom this term? Here are 5 maps every classroom needs:

1. A UK physical map - rivers, mountains and coastal geography, ready to go.

2. A world political map - current borders and capitals for every lesson.

3. A local OS map - hands-on scale, symbols and grid reference practice.

4. A historical or thematic wall map - bring topics like WWII or trade routes to life.

5. A big, bold classroom atlas - quick reference across every subject. A well-mapped classroom makes geography, history, literacy and numeracy click.

Ever wondered what the world actually looks like, properly to scale? Our new World Map with Flags poster uses the Hobo-Dyer equal area projection, so every country is shown true to size, not stretched out like on the old style maps you remember from school. Add a full row of national flags along the bottom and you have a map that is as useful as it is good looking. Available in A2, A1 and A0. Perfect for the office, classroom or home.

32 countries. One alliance. Every member state on a single wall map. 🗺️

MapShop's NATO Map shows all 32 member nations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on a large format poster, with each country's year of joining clearly marked on the map itself. It's a proper reference piece – not just a political overview, but a visual record of how the alliance has grown since those original 12 founding nations signed up in 1949.

The map has been updated to March 2024 and includes Finland (joined April 2023) and Sweden (joined March 2024), both of which joined following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. NATO's headquarters in Brussels is also marked, along with a brief history of the alliance's expansion.

Available in A2, A1 and A0, printed on satin paper for a clean professional finish with great colour and minimal glare. Whether it's going on the wall of a home office, a classroom, a boardroom or a government building, it works.

From £29 with free UK shipping. Printed to order in the UK.
