Caroline Allen at Neadal & Fred I am a textile artist who loves sharing what I know with other people on my workshops, as I learn from them too.

I teach a variety of skills, such as patchwork, quilting, embroidery, stuffed toys/dolls, mixed media, beading, and macrame.

Its been a busy few sessions in the workroom, and as usual ladies packed away their projects before I could snap them all
I'm hopeless
However, my cat, Lucifer was kind enough to hang around long enough for a photo
He always likes to nose around at what everyone is stitching
Well done all x

Trip to the Gloucester goldwork guild today, lovely fish scissor keeper workshop, which i can't wait to finish, no pictures, sorry
However 2 progress photos from kast mobths snail workshop
A gorgeous silver and blue one finished, love his leather body and 2 tone eyes 🙂
And a clever idea to use miliary, closely couched down together, creating a really textural body
I just love people's imaginations
12 mackerel kits have also been handed out, to their creators, so I can't wait to see the various iterations of those
🥰

Latest challenge from the projects manager, at Dinefawr NT House

A Calan Gaeaf quilt, ready for the celebrations later this month

Our projects team are making some wonderful things for visitors to enjoy

The quilt process ......

Sep 1. Started with a bundle of plain, deep and dark coloured charity shop shirts shorts and sheets. Washed and pressed them all. Cut off all button bands, cuffs, yolks and collars. Added in a shot of red fabric from my stash
Step 2. Cut them down to 80 equal sized squares
Step 3. Cut them horizontally so ended up with 160 rectangles
Step 4. Sewed them back together again, with a different piece, so ended up with 80 squares, again
Step 5. Cut them vertically into a pile of 160 pieces, again!
I must be mad 🤪😜
Step 6. Rotated 1 half and sewed them together again, so back to 80 squares

Tuesday, more pressing and playing around with block arrangement

Had a lovely session last night, at Trap school, being looked after by Julie, while she taught 16 of us to make up lovely, fabric covered Christmas baubles
Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed myself and had an opportunity to use up my weird cappuccino coloured metallic fabric too

Great day yesterday, at Ystradgynlais library, where we held our first goldwork embroidery club session
The ladies were very industrious and I actually remembered to take some photos too 😃
We had more owls being worked on, mackerel, bees, a new scarab style beetle being designed and some harebells started forming too
Well done ladies
Please reach out to me if this is a group you fancy joining, or a skill you'd like to learn

Have successfully managed to knock back the silver claws , on these black gems, with a sharpie pen!
So pleased, was unsure it would work, still visible but not as much as the original on the left

Returned home from taking our Canadian friends to our local castle, and this was waiting for me......
I was so excited that I had to simply stare at it for a few minutes
Then my excitement continued as I opened the package, and saw that Clara Stitching had taken the trouble to write me a note and send me the most excitingingly coloured rooster kit
Colour me super excited 😄
