The bikes are packed. The outfits are… still under review. 😂🚴‍♀️

See you in Glasgow for Tour de 4! 🏁

A wee bit different from me today.

This is Eastriggs, the village I was born and bred in.

I’ve watched it change a lot over the years — fields becoming roads, roads becoming houses, and houses becoming homes for families.

Over the last 25 years or so, myself, my brother and the family have been involved in building around 120–130 houses here, and we’re still building.

So this video is personal.

It’s not just an aerial view of a village.

It’s years of work, change, family, construction, and memories all tied together.

I’ve spent a fair bit of time putting this together with drone footage, editing, visuals, AI and plenty of trial and error.

When you’ve lived in a place your whole life, you don’t just see streets and rooftops.

You see what used to be there.

You see what changed.

And you see the work behind it.

Hope you enjoy it.

2D drawings give you the information — but you still have to picture the finished space in your head.

3D brings those same plans together so room sizes, layouts and how the space might actually feel are much easier to understand before you build.

Same project. Same information. Easier to picture.

Before you build, there are a few things worth being clear about.

Can you really picture the room sizes?

Can you see how the inside and outside levels work together?

And can you spot the awkward bits — stairs, roof slopes, doors and head heights?

If those things aren’t clear on the drawings, ask more questions before the work starts.

Much easier to change it on screen than on site.

A wall can look perfectly fine on one floor plan… until you look at the whole building together.

On this project, the upstairs stairwell wall didn’t line up with the wall below — which meant the bedroom sizes were wrong.

That’s the sort of problem that can be easy to miss on separate 2D drawings but much clearer once the building is viewed in 3D.

Better to spot it before it reaches site.

Some took longer than the finished video suggests.

But the point still stands:

Once work starts on site, changes can get expensive very quickly.

Much better to spot the problem before the first bucket goes in the ground.

**Follow for more things worth seeing before you build.**The homeowner and the builder can look at the same drawing and picture two completely different things.

One sees the dream.

The other sees how it has to be built.

The problem starts when those two pictures don’t match.

That’s where 3D can help — everyone can look at the same finished idea before the work starts.

Some building problems are easier to deal with before the machines start moving. 😄

This one was a bit of a VFX experiment — and definitely took longer than the finished video suggests.

But the point still stands:

Once work starts on site, changes can get expensive very quickly.

Much better to spot the problem before the first bucket goes in the ground.
