They can’t all be big jobs. I laid this 20 years ago and it still looked good, but customer scratched it and tried to sand out the damage herself. At 71 it’s unlikely she’ll want it done again and even more unlikely I’ll do it again.

For some reason a previous owner had a 150mm platform over this floor. Now restored to its former beauty with blocks robbed from under the stairs for a perfect repair to the doorway. Huge thanks to Newbold Carpets in Shepshed for the recommendation.

This customer has been without this room for over two years due to water damage and problems with the insurance company. Even in this rough state he is extremely happy to eventually have a floor.

I first worked for this customer over 20 years ago after they bought a mountain of Panga Panga blocks and started cleaning them. 20 years later they’ve cleaned all the blocks and loose laid them in every room on the ground floor. This is the first of many rooms and definitely the worst part of the job, with under the stairs and the loo. I’m sure most would lay the floor around the toilet, but taking it out is the only way.

A nice easy week. I even found a few “Opepe” blocks for an invisible repair.
