From the Autumn archive, one I made back in my shop days. Autumn is my favourite season to bring the outside indoors.
You don’t need floral foam for a pumpkin arrangement. Just hollow it out, drop a jar or small vase inside, fill it with water and arrange straight in. It’s kinder to the planet, and you can change the water so your flowers last longer.
You also don’t need loads of flowers. A pumpkin does half the work for you. Lots of autumnal foliage from the garden, foraged or from your local florist or flower farm will give you your base structure. Accent with seasonal colours, a few red spray roses, bronze chrysanthemum, some thistles and Chinese lanterns.
Floral design is all about the detail. Turn it into a centrepiece by adding a log slice, crab apples, dried hydrangea, some fallen leaves, twigs or branches from a walk and a couple of gourds. It’s those small finishing touches that bring the whole thing to life.
Taking some quiet time to create something seasonal for your home is one of my favourite autumn rituals. Have you tried a pumpkin arrangement yet? 🍂
