New day.
New week.

What's on todays agenda?

Firstly here's

One minute and 38 seconds of Arundel and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Meanwhile....it's a painting and decoupage day for me on an old chest of drawers...

New audible book.
Elsa Spaniel snoozing alongside.

Tough job...but someone has to do it..

Arundel?

It really is rather a special town.

Located in West Sussex in the South of England
..... an hour from London on the train.

Is there much here?

A High Street that looks like a film set and has been used as such many times...

Recently for " Wicked Little Letters " with Olivia Coleman.

There's a castle, cathedral, meandering river, wildfowl trust, antique centres,

We have some fabulous independent shops...small businesses that put heart and soul into what they do.

Here's some of our favourites.

Posh hat needed for Ascot or a wedding?

Check out  the milliner in Tarrant Street

A hidden gem of  jewellery design in Tarrant Street

What else?

Beats working for a living.

We are a very small business.
Husband and wife.

Work as a team.
Both have specific roles...which we tend to stick to.

Better that way.

No confrontation....well....ok...not much anyway.

Nass runs the warehouse.
Buys.
Displays.
Takes photos for online.

Looks after the customers....
..occasionally even serves tea and cakes to his regulars..

My role?
Apart from the paperwork and the online stuff..

It's the upcycling.
Which I love.

We don't decorate everything..

Items that are in desperate need of TLC ....
....that can't be restored to original.

If we can restore..... we do.

Or we know a man who can...

What gets the  upcycling treatment?

Tatty furniture usually heading for the tip....

Small 1930's side tables are always popular
Bedsides.
Chests of drawers..

Then there's
Vintage enamel pots, boxes and buckets.

Working day?

Coffee on.
Audible books playing.

Elsa Spaniel snoozing alongside after we've walked over Arundel hills or through woods.

If the unpredictable  English weather allows, we take the current upcycling project into the garden....
...have our lunch alongside the river.

Oh yes...
It's a tough job but someone has to do it...

Elsa Spaniel says

" Have a gentle Sunday..."

Here's some of her favourite local walks...

She loves the fabulous Halnaker Windmill meander.

A prominent local landmark originally built in the 1740's...though I doubt Elsa  is concerned with it's history.

For some reason she loves to go into the small ancient  churches we pass along the way...and wander up to the altar..maybe she's saying a few words ......who knows..

The little wooden, slightly shaky, bridge in woodland near Arundel linking two tiny villages , built by a Gurkha regiment.....is a real favourite of hers and mine.

When we walk up near the South Downs Way we usually don't see a soul...not that we are anti- social..but it is rather lovely to get away from the world for a while isn't it?

We do occasionally meet young hikers  doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme ...they always stop to say hello to my spaniel chum.

The rolling paths and fabulous skies are breathtakingly beautiful.

From the Madonna statue by an ancient pond to a secret garden deep in the woods..local forests hold many magical mysteries...

Nore Folly?
It's in the nearby village of Slindon.

Commissioned by The Countess of Newburgh in 1814 to host afternoon tea parties....as one does..
...but also to give work to local estate workers during the economic depression following the Napoleonic Wars.

Arundel Park is simply beautiful all year round...and goes on for mile upon mile.

Suffice it to say our  local walks are full of wonder..
...and a rather large smattering of extraordinary history..

Having said that...

Elsa just likes to sniff, roll in the grass, run...
..then sit on a hill to watch the world go by...

We could learn a lot from her!

Nestled down an alley in an 18th century brewery warehouse, in the picturesque town of Arundel...
..you will find Arundel Eccentrics.

Here's a taster of what we do.

English and French antique furniture and our own style of upcycling.

We work on down at heel items to give them a new lease of life.

The Liberty shot?

In 2016 we were invited to take a space in the iconic  London store.

We had the run of their top floor for 3 years.

Magazine images?

We've had several commissions over the years for specific photos shoots for interiors magazines

been fun to do
.. often taking us out of our comfort zone.

TV?

We did venture onto the small screen a couple of times..though it's not really our forté

Celebrity Road Trip with Alison Steadman
and

60 Minute Makeover with Peter Andre and the fabulous US interior designer
Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

Not bad for a really small ...husband and wife business in a scruffy warehouse.
