As apt now as in 1911 when this was written don't you think?

Crikey....Maybe more so?

Our little corner of Sussex holds the most beautiful places to stand and stare.

Here's a few recent morning meanderings with Elsa  Spaniel...

Roman roads..
quiet moments in a serene village church built in the 11th century..no electricity..only candlelit services

Fabulous sculpture in secluded woodland..

And the most glorious Arundel sunsets over the river.

"WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

Tucked away in our old Arundel warehouse you'll find English and French antique and vintage furniture. But we also upc...

Tucked away in our old Arundel warehouse you'll find English and French antique and vintage furniture.

But we also upcycle.

Source pieces in dire need of TLC.

Often 1930's.

Maybe a Victorian chest that's in need of some love.

Vintage pots and buckets.

We paint...

Mostly black with a hint of gold.

Then decorate with decoupage using 19th century images.
Finish with aging varnish.

The images?
Inspired by nature are the ones we use the most.

It's uplifting spending time on an item that was heading for the skip..
... turning it into something a little more special...

See it appear in a glossy magazine ..posh shop..or high end advert with a celebrity....

a great feeling as that piece began it's transformation in our tiny Arundel cottage kitchen or workshop by the river at the end of the garden.

Beats working for a living....

This fabulous little flower shop has just opened in Arundel.

We were all sad when Jackie retired.
She supplied the town for years.

I think she would love her replacement.

Friendly knowledgeable service.
They also run their own flower farm nearby.

The shop is visually stunning.
Floor to ceiling vibrant flower decor.

(Even in the loo)

The most gorgeous flowers.

Gardening items in the back room.

Oh! and great news.
Jam jar arrangements are here to stay.

A simple jam jar filled with a pretty collection of flowers for £12....
... but they are so very much more.....

Going to dinner? Jam jar.

Friend going through the mill? Jam jar.

Random act of kindness? Jam jar.

We have such wonderful independent gems here...it's one of the attributes that makes Arundel so special.

September again!

The months are absolutely flying by aren't they?

​We aren't able to open every day as we're busy in our workshop, upcycling furniture for trade orders.

So here's a little about who we are, what we do...and a snippet of our story.

We are a husband and wife team living and working in the idyllic, historic town of  Arundel, West Sussex in the South of England.

Home is a 19th century cottage down by the river and our antiques warehouse is 18th century..tucked away just off the main street...

we love it so much we occasionally call it " home" by mistake.

It’s become one of the area's best-kept secrets, and a favourite stop for some fabulous overseas trade clients.

In the early days we spent a lot of time trying to shout about where we were.

Leaflet drops.
Antique fairs.
Advertising.

Even considered wearing a sandwich board around town.

Street signs.. ..until the local district council threatened us with fines.

Yikes!

but then....unbelievably
...our upcycling and English and French antique furniture collection took us.. by invitation...

to the giddy heights of the Liberty London store in 2016......where we had the run of their top floor for 3 extraordinary years

Imagine..
going from a dusty old brewery warehouse..
and landing in one of the most prestigious stores in the world...
...selling to internationally famous celebrities.

Couldn't make it up could you?
