As you all know i do run a little soft toy hospital. So when I was asked if I could " do something " with Mr Clowny who was i to turn him away.
This is a long post so you may want to grab yourself a cuppa !!!
Well over 30yrs old Mr Clowny had been and still is a very very much loved favourite soft toy. He started life as a Commonwealth Jesty the clown back in 1990.
His outfit was worn and torn in many places. His hair had been twiddled with and was loosing its colour.
His nose ! I believe had been chewed on ha ha ha !! And was just about hanging on!
Bless him he had just lost all him "" umph"" !!! But had over the years been lovingly sewn back together until there was nothing left to sew.
So, after a few coffees and much ooo, mmmm and ahhhing ! I decided he had to be taken apart so I could make a pattern of his body. I was given a teal coloured velour track suit to try and wrap it round him to keep him together. But I thought he had come this far let's make him a new body !!
I was able to keep his original face, original hair and his, original shoes( with sqeekers).
His body was taken apart and transfered to the velour tracksit material. I used strong interfacing so I would have something to sew onto.
Next I took ""off his head"" !! . Made him a new hat and added more hair. Using the stuffing from his old nose i was able to reshape it and added felt to create a new nose. I then made a pocket at the back of his face to restuff his face and add his new nose.
I have to say, I was truely dreading taking him apart! But what an honour to be able to restore him. Although a little different from the original Clowny I now hope he has many more years of love left in him.
Thank you Julie for trusting me. And for allowing me to bring a little bit of magic back to Mr Clowny's step ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
