Meet the newest arrivals at Beeswax Bay Farm.

We placed a £1 coin next to one of our newly hatched chicks so you could see for yourself. The coin is bigger than the bird.

These are Chinese Painted Quail - also known as Button Quail or King Quail - and they are the world's smallest true quail. They hatched here at our smallholding in Atherstone, Warwickshire, and we are completely smitten.

As adults they will reach around 4.5 inches long and weigh about 40-50g. That is smaller than a bar of chocolate. And yet within minutes of hatching they are already on their feet, running around and exploring. Nature is remarkable.

We have just published a full introduction to the breed on the blog — what they are, where they come from, what makes them different from Coturnix quail, and whether they might be right for you. Link is below.

More posts to follow on their care, housing and - eventually - availability from our Warwickshire smallholding.

🍂🐣 A LITTLE AUTUMN UPDATE FROM BEESWAX BAY FARM 🐣🍂

Hello, everyone! ❤️

As we move into autumn and the days begin to get shorter, we thought it was a good time to share a little update about our lovely quails and their eggs. 🍁🍂

The good news is that our egg production hasn’t dropped yet, so there’s nothing to worry about at the moment! 🥚🐣

However, as temperatures continue to fall and daylight hours decrease, quails may naturally start laying fewer eggs during the colder months. This means that, later in the season, we might experience a reduction in the number of hatching eggs available and, occasionally, slight delays in dispatching orders.

At Beeswax Bay Farm, the health and welfare of our quails always come first. ❤️ We’re committed to providing them with a safe, warm and healthy environment while doing our very best to fulfil your orders as quickly as possible.

We simply wanted to give our lovely customers a little heads-up so that you can plan ahead if you’re hoping to hatch some adorable little chicks this autumn or winter! 🐥💛

Thank you so much for supporting our small farm. Your orders, kind messages and continued support mean the world to us!

Wishing you all a cosy and beautiful autumn! 🍂☕🐣

Warm wishes from Beeswax Bay Farm ❤️

Beeswax or soy - which candle is right for you?
We get asked this more than almost any other question at Beeswax Bay Farm. And the honest answer is - it depends on what matters most to you.

Beeswax burns longer, has a natural honey scent and is the only candle known to emit negative ions that help purify the air. If you have allergies or asthma, beeswax is the one.

Soy holds fragrance beautifully, is vegan-friendly and is brilliant value. If you want a strongly scented candle in a variety of fragrances, soy is your answer.

Both are completely natural, both burn cleanly, and both are handmade in small batches at our smallholding in Atherstone, Warwickshire - no paraffin, no synthetics, no hidden additives.

We have just published a full comparison guide on the blog - burn time, scent, health benefits, eco credentials and which one to choose for different situations. Link below:
