I was recently asked by my hairdresser in a panic could I alter the straps on her daughter’s prom dress I immediately said yes.
I was upset to find that wherever had taken the hem if the dress up had left it very ragged and unfinished. A heel could have easily got caught and ripped the dress on the day.
I set to repairing these faults by hand as there was no room for further adjustment. Needless to say it made my day to see the girls smiling face in her prom pictures and I refused payment as that was enough for me.
However a few months later and I was treated to a free visit to the hairdressers as she refused payment the same way I did. Guess that’s friendship.

Back in May I was asked if I could adjust the straps on a prom dress for the daughter of my hairdresser. Which of course I said I’d do. We’ve known each other for years but she had asked someone else to alter the hem back when they first got the dress because she knew how busy I was. She only asked me to do the straps last minute in a panic.
However, while altering the straps I was upset to find that the hem and the join where the split in the dress were had not been finished off correctly. As can clearly be seen in the pictures whoever did this did it in a rush and didn’t check their work. I immediately set to putting the things right as best I could by hand as the dress could not be taken up anymore. I gave to say the young lady was so happy and grateful to me for noticing and caring enough to put it right.
I didn’t want anything for this work as it wax a joy to see her smiling face on prom day. However after weeks of arguing about payment I found I that on my last trip to the hairdressers my colour and cut were free. I guess this is what friends do when you refuse payment .

I brought my son an advent calendar but he didn’t want them hanging on the tree. Instead he asked if I could frame them for him. Think it came out ok.

The start of my next category on the Stitchaholics website. Handmade crafts. All items will be handmade by me to be purchased for gifts or to use yourself. Repair work on Angel from Stitch. Special gift from my daughter many years ago that her puppy decided to try to eat. Luckily it was only a little tip in the antenna and he hadn’t eaten any of the stuffing. Two pictures before and after.
