In many countries of Europe, chimneys are swept from the top down, which, typically, over there, is standard procedure.
You can see this one's pretty horrific. That's a heck of a lot of deposits and a massive risk of chimney fire
no matter where you are or what type of solid fuel stove or wood appliance you have, your chimney should be swept yearly. This one is a massive risk of chimney fire, the sort of chimney fire that could easily take out a whole house.
It's also worth noting that to maintain a warranty on a flue system or a stove, annual chimney sweeping is a requirement.
We find warranty cases extremely rare, but please note that in the event you have a warranty claim, the manufacturers of the flue system and the stove will require those chimney sweeping certificates.
When I do mine, I always scan it and put it into a folder in the cloud so that I've got it with all my other household paperwork, with easy access. anytime I need it from anywhere.
It's getting cold, and it's the start of the burn season. Many people haven't done the general maintenance, such as servicing and chimney sweeping. If you haven't already done it, you really need to get onto this as soon as possible.
Safety first, always, and the things you can't see are often the most important !
