The sun is finally out to take the latest delivery of high performance windows and doors from Europe. These will be installed early next week onwards just in time for Easter, lets hope the sun keeps out to play for the installation team.

Fly tipping is on the rise, but here at Built Green Ltd and Built Green windows we always dispose of the builders waste correctly and safely, with the relevant paperwork.

Whatever work you may be having done, always check your builder/supplier is disposing of the rubbish correctly as the waste if fly tipped could end up with the householder bieng fined.

The extras what can make a big difference to the way you use your windows. Vents, restrictors, letter plates (not always recommended in high performance doors) but some people like the traditional letter landing on there door mat.
The profile edge on the windows can be rounded which is more traditional to the square edge.

Built Green Windows & Doors Ltd’s specialist surveyors have been busy. We adopt the old philosophy measure twice and cut once. Once on survey and once on order. We don’t only replace the redundant from our selection of high performance windows and door ranges. We’ll take out the old box sash, highly insulate the void, make airtight and finish with the same aesthetic as in the 1890’s. Alternatively we will source matching bricks, fill in the old door way and move it permitting the 2026 kitchen now to work in the 1930’s coal shed. Bridging the gap between builder, joiner and high performance window specialist.

All loaded up tonight for a early start in the morning, a 4ft plus slider and windows for an extension. Thankyou NLH Crewe for dealing with the logistics of getting the windows and sliders from ferry to doorstep! The windows will be onsite for 7.30am in the morning, lets hope the team make it to work on time.

Window and door frames can have various finishes and colours, different internally to externally:

Granite is a GSB-approved powder coating, with the same durability and quality as "standard" powder coating, but with a modern textured finish that looks and feels like rough-cut granite.

Aluminium windows and doors frames can be polyester-powder coated. Polyester powder coated aluminium is one of the most durable materials for window construction, offering a low maintenance, weather resistant surface. These can come in hundreds of the RAL colours. RAL colours are available in matt and gloss finish (gloss 30 and gloss 77)

Natural wood stains enhance timber grain beauty while adding colour depth. Various tints available to showcase authentic wood character. Clear lacquer is unsuitable for external use on timber-only products.

Common Question - What is a door Cill/Sill?

We often get asked what is a door cill/sill purpose and what is the correct spelling!!!!

A door cill is a horizontal ledge that sits at the bottom of your door frame, creating a smooth transition between your home’s interior and exterior.

In the context of doors and windows, the UK construction industry commonly spells it “cill”, even though “sill” is the standard English spelling as per the oxford English dictionary. Both terms refer to the same part—the bottom section of a door or window frame that helps with water runoff and weather sealing. Both are correct spelling of the word.
