Sweet Dreams has had a dreamy little glow-up, and honestly, she understood the assignment ✨

Our new design is inspired by starry nights, moonlit skies, and that magical “I am absolutely not getting back out of bed now” feeling. Think a sky full of stars, cosy blankets, phone on Do Not Disturb, and your brain finally deciding to stop acting like it’s hosting a committee meeting at 11pm 💫

This is your official sign to give in, slow down, and let yourself properly relax.

Sweet Dreams opens with soft, floral notes of freesia and chamomile, before melting into a calming heart of English lavender, tuberose, and gentle milky notes. Then she settles into a beautifully comforting base of tonka bean, vanilla, white musk, and violet leaf — basically a bedtime story in candle form 🕯️💜

She’s made for those evenings when you need to switch off, soften the room, and create a little pocket of peace at home. Light her while you run a bath, read a book, tidy your bedside table for the 400th time, or simply sit there pretending you’re a well-rested person with their life together 😅

Our second Candles & Cocktails Night next Friday was completely sold out — but we’ve just had a last-minute cancellation, which means six seats are now available.

We Left Our Potter Unsupervised… Look What Happened 👻

Warning: you’re going to want to adopt the whole lot.

We left our potter unsupervised for five minutes… and they went completely off-piste.

The result?

The Boo Crew — a brilliantly bonkers new collection of pottery ghosts, each with a personality all of their own.

Some look sweet and innocent. Some look like they know all your secrets. And some appear to have just remembered they left the oven on in the afterlife.

The best bit?

Not one is the same. Every ghost has been individually created, so each has their own shape, expression and wonderfully wonky character. No identical spooky siblings here — when you choose one, you’re taking home a true one-off.

They’re perfect for shelves, fireplaces, tables or anywhere that needs a little more mischief. And although they’re technically Halloween décor, we won’t judge anyone who keeps their tiny ceramic companion out all year. Ghosts are for life, not just for October. 👻

The biggest candle shop in the whole of Yorkshire right on your doorstep 🤯

We had a surprise visitor last week… and somehow the plasters became the main characters.

Someone raised concerns about what we do at Wicks & Spritz, so Environmental Health popped in for a chat. I’ll be honest: it caused a wobble and the sort of smile that says, “Of course, come in,” while your brain quietly escapes through the fire exit.

But the important bit is this: we follow the requirements and take safety seriously.

I’ve run businesses for over 20 years (yes I am nearly 40!), Wicks & Spritz has been going for nearly 6 years, and I’m a stickler for procedures. Behind the candles, cocktails and creative chaos is a very organised pile of paperwork.

🍽️ Event food is handled by an external caterer following the correct food-hygiene regulations.

📝 Every workshop and event is risk assessed — from Harewood House to our previous Gather events — and records are kept for 12 months. I’m now one form away from risk assessing the loo roll: paper cuts, rogue tube, proceed carefully.

🔥 The premises are fire risk assessed, with extinguishers in place. We love candles, but we’re not auditioning for a disaster film.

🕯️ Lighting candles in a candle shop is assessed and safe. “Lighting Candle in the Candle shop” Shocking headline, I know.

⚠️ Wet-floor signs are used when needed — mainly because we clean. Revolutionary.

🩹 Our first-aid box is stocked, and even the plasters are in date. Apparently plasters expire. I also had questions.

Jokes aside, this business is my livelihood. I would never risk it or, more importantly, our customers’ health and safety. We want Wicks & Spritz to be somewhere you can relax, make, laugh, shop and feel welcome.

If you ever have a genuine concern, please come and speak to us. We’re friendly, approachable and usually standing near something that smells lovely.

Finally, a genuine thank you to the person who asked for us to be checked. You caused a brief panic and turned me into a plaster detective, but you also gave us the chance to review everything and reassure our community.

Everything was checked, the paperwork was more than in order and the plasters are now minor celebrities.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m getting back to the fun stuff: bringing you fabulous workshops and gorgeous autumn products — all fully risk assessed, naturally. Those pumpkins aren’t going to make themselves. 🍂🎃
