Here's a pendant I designed inspired by the art of Katsushika Hokusai, the polychrome woodblock The Great Wave off Kanagawa. I'm very far removed from knowing much of anything about, well, anything, to be honest, but I DO know that this piece of art has lived rent free in my head since I first saw it during A-Level Art (for those not based in the UK, that's education after "high school" for ages 16/17). I PROMISE not to waffle on for hours!
Several years ago, I made a very literal piece of wall-art inspired by the Great Wave (I'll show you in the video) and it felt like my Art Inspiration Series was the perfect 'place' to revisit the idea of turning well loved art into jewellery.
I will show you how to create the front of this pendant and discuss any tweaks you might need to make for difference cabochon thicknesses and forms.
I'll also link in this video description free tutorials detaiing how to create my Loki Bail, South Sea Pendant design (used for the back) as well as other bails and backs which you could also use. Sometimes (!!!) I get carried away and a free tutorial ends up lasting well over half an hour and taking best part of a week to design, develop, film and master.
Thanks so much for reading this far! Have a beautiful day, Jem ###
