As the weather slowly starts to turn, and our thoughts go to darker nights, getting back into some kind of normality and routine, summer salads replaced with stews and chimneys being swept in anticipation of the cooler temperatures, we turn too, to warmer colours – embodied perfectly in this run of wardrobes we designed and built for Greg Penn

And very excitingly, we’re just putting the finishing touches to the cabinetry for his pantry here in our workshops and it won’t be too long before we’re making the journey back down to Admirals House ready for the installation.

As ever, Greg’s ideas and attention to detail have made it a lovely project to be a part of, and we’re hoping he’s as thrilled with the results as he has been with these wardrobes, and his kitchen – bringing Admirals back to life one room at a time!

These wardrobes are a mix of hanging spaces of varying lengths, shelves, glass fronted soft-close drawers and a hanging rail/ladder rail giving access to further storage above.

We’ll be sharing more as we install it, later in the month so do keep your eyes peeled! And thanks to Katalin Horvath for the picture of the robes!

This might not be the most beautiful picture we’ve ever posted… but we think it’s another good example of where we do our utmost to make kitchens that are as functional in every detail, as they are beautiful.

The cupboard beneath the sink, is often a place things get thrown to be long forgotten about… dark, low, and hidden behind a mess of plumbing, it’s often hard to find what you need unless it’s right at the front!

Well, we build special, deep oak drawers that sit neatly under and in front of any plumbing (and in this instance, the boiler tank for the hot water tap). It pulls out smoothly, on soft close runners and means the whole drawer is easily accessible, front to back from the top.

Given it’s a cupboard that might, quite frequently need emptying to allow access to the plumbing, whether its water filters being changed, traps cleaned or leaks resolved, being able to quickly lift out the whole drawer, with its contents still in there, in a few seconds, saves an awful lot of faff.

Just as with our exteriors being entirely bespoke and customisable to create the look you’re hoping for, we can do the same with the internals too whether that’s with the layout, colour or finish.

With such lofty ceilings and that jaw dropping window, this space was crying out for something to really showcase the incredible height, and these glazed cabinets do a beautiful job of doing just that. The glazed fronts subtly echo the details of the window, whilst allowing reflected light to bounce around the space.

Of course that’s not much good if you can’t reach them, so we created an integral ladder rail, with a bespoke ladder that works across the open shelves on the other side of the room too, meaning everything is easily accessible (so long as you’ve a head for heights!). The elegant, painted units, immaculately finished in our signature sprayed finish on site here at the workshop pair beautifully with the more rustic, solid oak units and worktop. This really grounds the space, and compliments the wonderful, original floor.

All these things allow the eye to be drawn out to the view beyond and whilst no one loves doing the washing up, we’re sure there might be a few volunteers in this kitchen! Solid brass cup handles and k***s, and an Smeg UK & Ireland range & fridge complete the look and go beautifully against both the wood and the painted elements and the whole space has a natural, relaxed feel full of texture and interest whilst remaining a practical space too!

In a spare bedroom, with fireplaces, doors and windows it’s not always easy to find space for adequate and well organised storage so in this beautiful cottage, we created a wall of traditionally made, built in wardrobes, seamlessly integrating the door – in this instance, through to the en-suite for a wonderfully bespoke feel, making the most of the available space.

As with lots of our projects, this one has come from word of mouth… it’s actually friends of neighbours of ours who we’ve also become great friends with over the years… after lots of time spent in our home for dinners, BBQ’s and gatherings they’d seen first hand our own kitchen (made of course by us!), and a few years ago, when they needed their kitchen redoing, they of course came to us!

Delighted with their own kitchen, they recommended us to their friends, for whom we’ve built these robes.

In their words ‘we can’t stop going into the spare room just to admire them! It’s made it feel like the most special room in the house’.

We are so proud of the work we do, and believe the fact that the majority of our new customers come from personal recommendations of existing customers, speaks volumes for the quality of our work, and just as importantly, what we’re like to deal with.

Bespoke furniture, by its very nature is quite a long, involved process, and not to mention an investment. We have been doing this for decades and are still a small, family run team. Trust, honesty, attention to detail and a friendly, approachable way of doing things is absolutely at the core of what Heaven and Stubbs are, and why we believe we get the recommendations we do.

An 1800’s Notting Hill mews home, with a wonderfully bohemian feel was home to an ill-fitting 90’s kitchen. Our client was looking for something that felt more in keeping to the style of the property, whilst maximising the storage available in this space. Beyond that, the brief was kept quite light as we worked on a solution.

As we were talking through design options, those wonderful Victorian apothecaries, with their glazed fronts and seemingly treasure trove like cabinetry inside felt both inkeeping in style, whilst also providing the storage required so we used that as a jumping off point for the design.

We started with the glazed cabinetry, taking these to the ceiling to really offer a huge amount of storage. By using reeded glass, it obscures the contents, so there’s no need to be too precious about what’s stored in there, but we’ve lit the cabinetry which means it looks fantastic at night. During the day, the glass bounces the light around coming from the deep sash window at the end of the kitchen. Visually a glazed cabinet, especially painted in these pale tones, sits far more lightly too giving the impression of an airy, and spacious kitchen aided by the antiqued mirror splashbacks.

For the cabinets, we went with a complete contrast, using reclaimed, 200 year old oak to give character and a real authenticity to the space. It’s a warm, tactile and very hardwearing material and with the pale quartz tops linking the cabinetry above, they work perfectly together and the oak pairs wonderfully with the clients herringbone floor. The whole thing feel incredibly well considered, like it could have always been there.

Creating everything we make, from scratch and totally bespoke for our clients means we can create anything you could dream of for your space and achieve a totally unique look that can really bring your home to life.

We’re having a bit of a change in our showrooms, which means our as new, unused reconditioned Aga range cookers are available for purchase. The specifications are below and swipe through to see the pictures of them in our showrooms. If you’re interested please drop us a DM and we’ll be glad to help!

Both are fully electric with multi-element systems making them controllable and affordable to run, but with the classic look of a traditional Aga. Both require a 32amp cooker supply and will require dismantling and collecting from our showrooms.

They are both in new condition (Ex Display), Blake & Bull remastered electric Aga range cookers.

One is a 2 Oven, Post 95 Aga in classic black enamel with bespoke, aged brass hardware.

The second Aga is a 4-oven model with a total width of 1487mm also in black but with classic chrome hardware.

A kitchen that’s as glorious in the summer as it is in the winter, the buttery yellow and warm tones throughout the space make every month feel like there’s a bit more sunshine in it and with a whole wall of floor to ceiling storage in this beautiful shade (that also hides a fridge freezer too), it really reflects the light from the window opposite and gives the space such a welcoming feel.

Something we see a lot of, is kitchens that have had every ounce of space jammed with cabinetry… and whilst there’s a place for that, taking a slightly pared back approach can have wonderful consequences. Thanks to the huge storage offered by those yellow cabinets, there was no need for over counter cabinets, making the space feel larger and more open.

And whilst an island could have been fitted, an antique table sits lightly in the room allowing light to flow underneath and is easily moved around as needed – whilst still providing ample ‘work top’ space. It’s also a good way of making your budget stretch further – an island can be added at a later date if it was so desired!

We love the textures in this space too – the rich paint… the terracotta floor… the timber cabinetry and crisp stone worktop… antiqued brass and old, painted brickwork – it really is a feast for the eyes and brings an instantly aged, welcoming feel to this simple, homely space that adds up to far more than the sum of its parts.

We’re thrilled to be able to share with you a recently completed project, and this time thanks to the recommendation by Greg Penn to his parents Edwardian home in Devon.

Both his parents and Greg had a good idea of what they wanted and we’re pleased to say, delighted with the result! It’s still a work in progress in places but at least the kitchen itself is up and running now.

It’s a classic shaker style that’s absolutely timeless but subtly elevated with the details around the framing. The worktable addition as an island feels very in keeping for the period, whilst sitting far more lightly in the room than a solid island and with a wall of Crittall glazing, it allows the light to flood through the space – though with deep drawers all around, it still offers plenty of storage.

A pantry cupboard behind bifold doors is perfect for keeping appliances hidden out of sight and the other bits and pieces are incorporated into the cabinetry giving the whole thing an elegant, pared back feel, letting the craftsmanship shine through.

We hope you like this first look at their new kitchen and we can’t wait to see it once the garden has been landscaped and everything finished and looking crisp!

We love a before and after, and they don’t come much more dramatic than this! A wonderful piece of modern architecture, flooded with light, with clients that wanted a similarly modern approach to their kitchen, but with a timeless design and time-honoured craftsmanship made from materials that would last.

We utilised the space beneath the stairs, that could have so easily been wasted, to create a bespoke, walk in w**e cellar and we’ve utilised every inch of space to maximise storage.
A raised breakfast bar keeps the working part of the kitchen separated, and an in-counter extractor fan allows for the hob to be positioned within the island, despite the skylights above keeping the lines clean whilst effectively dealing with the steam and grease from the hob.

There’s sometimes a bit of a misconception with bespoke kitchens that they don’t belong in a modern space, but we absolutely believe our clients, regardless of their home, and style of kitchen they’re drawn to, appreciate our attention to detail in both the design and craftsmanship of our cabinetry, ultimately to create something perfect for you and your home without limitations beyond your imagination!

We promised we’d share more of the kitchen we initially posted last week – and this time reveal that beautiful pop of colour on the interior that’s a wonderful contrast to the dark, muted exterior. It also shows that we’ve been able to fit the cooker, and hob into the island – as requested by our client but managed to do so, whilst retaining the worktable feel of the island.

We sourced an oven that doesn’t require a full depth enclosure, whilst giving plenty of width to ensure adequate cooking room for a busy family kitchen, and installed a white induction hob, that blends in beautifully with the quartz top. This helps the appliances to hide in plain sight, whilst putting the cook right at the heart of the kitchen.

If you then swipe across, you’ll see that wonderful colour inside the cabinetry. Whilst it wouldn’t be everyone’s first choice, keeping the top half of the cabinet open and without doors maximises space, and keeps things organised but still effortlessly to hand. We could have also added bi-folds, or pocket doors, but this is a functional way to have storage in a busy kitchen – with the curved shelves and colours keeping it useful and beautiful!

A kitchen designed to be used and to fit around life in this warm, comfortable home.
