Jenni Robinson Art

Jenni Robinson Art Landscape artist working from my sketchbooks to create atmospheric paintings with layered drawing.

Reduced information available in sketchbooks leaves room for intuition, memory, thoughts and emotion in the studio work.

This one needs a break from me, or vice versa! Pinned it up with the drawing that inspired it, made over a year ago, check out the WIP in image 2 ➡️

I have shunted the drawing about the studio this past year, thinking it wasn't much use, didn't fit with anything, etc etc. Turns out it was an important little fragment, just biding its time.

Wearing my good trainers again. The studio ones are RIGHT THERE.

Anyway. Work in progress. Thinking about the luxury of access to safe spaces, and my safety in them.

I know I'm in a good creative headspace because I ordered 3 sets of stretcher bars today which means I'm ready to start assembling finished art. Let's go.

Small area of detail from today's "finished for now" piece. It's still bleeding into itself so there might be another couple of fixes then it's submitted to the selection committee for July's Eco takeover.
The base layers are acrylic "waste water", saved in jars/buckets of separate colour groups from my classes and studio work, brush cleaning, palette waste, etc. Then balanced up in to a painting I'm really happy with.
You'll get to see it in July either way!

Round of applause to the curators of the show for the beautiful context throughout

Many of the paintings on show are a homage to artists through history. She travelled and studied them extensively, coming back to translate them in to her own style.

One of my favourite paintings was "For E.M.", this take on Manet's Poissons, shown alongside (also 👌).

Here are a couple of my fav details, shout out to - i took all my back to their home country and they've performed beautifully! Lovely kit to sit and sketch with.

I've been supported by the bursary award this year, which has funded this trip. Immensely grateful for the opportunity and absolutely busting to plan new work.

Thank you also to in Bangor, an artist who is a colour specialist and with whom I used funding to have a couple of days 1:1 tuition before I left. I was able to read these amazing paintings in a whole new way and really get the best out of it.

Thank you for accompanying, sustenance and willing art chat!
