Just a quick update for everyone who donated to help gift some Coronation Afternoon Teas to elderly, isolated residents in Barnsley…

We exceeded our target of £100 and raised a massive £415. This allowed us to make and deliver a total of 43 afternoon teas.

We’ve spent over 10 hours delivering, yesterday and today, from Royston to Hoyland, Oxspring to Lundwood, covering over 100 miles.

We just want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU as those who received them were incredibly grateful, not for the afternoon tea, but for the thought that someone had remembered them and put them forward to receive one, and that they hadn’t been forgotten.

All of your kind donations really have made a difference to a lot of elderly residents in our community today ❤️🇬🇧👑 Age UK Barnsley

I’ve been totally blown away by everyone’s support and donations over the last couple of weeks.

When I decided to gift these afternoon teas to lonely elderly people for the Kings Coronation, I hoped to brighten the day of a couple of people.

However, in just a few days we’ve raised over £300 which means we’ll be visiting at least 40 elderly people who struggle to get out and who don’t see many people from one week to the next, making sure they don’t feel left behind on a historic day 👑🤴🏼🇬🇧

I’ll be taking down the ‘gofundme’ page tomorrow, but just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU!!

🎁GIVING BACK TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY🎁

My beautiful Grandma is the inspiration behind Pink Hyacinth Designs, one of her favourite flowers

Sadly, last year my Grandma and Grandad suddenly passed away within a few weeks of one another.

This year we’d like to give back to our local community.

To celebrate the wonderful people they were, in their memory, I will be working with Age UK Barnsley to make and distribute some ‘Treats in a Box’ for elderly, isolated residents in Barnsley for them to enjoy during the Kings Coronation on 6th May.

Watching the Queens Jubilee with my Grandma last year was one of the last things we did together and I’ll forever cherish that memory.

As part of my full time job I work with many elderly people across Barnsley who are extremely isolated and lonely, often not seeing anyone from one week to the next. This has a major impact on their physical and mental health.

We hope that by distributing these Treat Boxes and spending a little time chatting to our elderly neighbours, it will remind them that they are cared about and not forgotten and hopefully brighten their day.

If you’d like to contribute towards a Treat Box for an elderly person, please donate whatever you can, and every penny will go towards making as many as possible to distribute locally.
