Ah, the Knight of Wands. The walking red flag. The f**kboy of the tarot deck. The man who wants the excitement of a new woman but none of the responsibility that comes with being a decent human being. Let’s talk about him.
He’s impulsive. He’s restless. He’s led by his urges, his ego and whatever gives him that next little dopamine hit. He wants what he wants, when he wants it, and he’ll worry about the consequences when they catch up with him. He’s in one minute and gone the next. He can make you feel like you’re the most desirable woman in the world on Monday, then disappear on Tuesday because something else has caught his attention. He loves the chase. He loves the attention. He loves knowing he can still get someone to want him. But does he actually want a relationship? Or does he just want the validation of knowing he’s still got options?
Because there’s a massive difference between wanting somebody and wanting to know somebody wants you. And the Knight of Wands can spend so much time chasing the next thrill that he never stops to ask himself why he needs so much external validation in the first place.
Look at this Knight of Wands. He’s been in the pub, drinking, laughing, flirting and enjoying himself. He’s met a woman, the chemistry is there, the attraction is there, and he’s more than happy to see where the evening takes him. He’s had his excitement. He’s had his ego stroked. He’s got what he wanted. And now? He’s back on his horse, heading home to his wife. Tomorrow, he’ll get up, have his breakfast, go about his day and carry on as though nothing happened. He might not even feel guilty. He might justify it to himself, convince himself it meant nothing, or tell himself that because it was only one night, it doesn’t count. But that’s the problem with this energy. He can separate his actions from their consequences because he’s only thinking about how he feels in the moment. He’s not thinking about the people who might get hurt. He’s not thinking about the promises he’s made. He’s not thinking about the life he’s risking for a few hours of excitement. He’s thinking about what he wants right now. And that’s what makes this energy so destructive. Not the attraction. Not the chemistry. Not even the desire for adventure. It’s the complete lack of consideration for what his choices mean for other people.
This is the man who will pursue someone he doesn’t genuinely want a relationship with simply because he wants to know he can get them. He’ll flirt, seduce, promise and paint a picture of what life with him could look like. He might talk about commitment, stability and the future while quietly keeping his other options open. He wants the benefits of being wanted without the responsibility of being trustworthy. He’s the man who can sit beside you on the sofa while secretly messaging somebody else. The man who says he’s working late when he’s actually making time for another woman. The man who gives you just enough attention to keep you interested but never enough consistency to make you feel secure. He’ll give you a beautiful speech and then behave in a way that contradicts every word of it. And when you start questioning the inconsistencies, he might turn it around on you. Suddenly, you’re jealous. You’re insecure. You’re imagining things. You’re the problem for asking questions about behaviour that doesn’t add up. That’s how manipulation works. Instead of addressing what they’ve done, they make you question whether you had any right to question them in the first place.
If someone repeatedly lies to you, manipulates you, crosses your boundaries and then makes you feel guilty for noticing, the problem isn’t that you’re asking too many questions. It’s that their behaviour isn’t matching their words. And you don’t need to diagnose somebody to recognise that you’re being treated badly.
💥 BUT TODAY, SOMETHING IS STARTING TO CHANGE.
Because the Knight of Wands can’t keep running forever. Eventually, the excitement wears off. The new attention doesn’t hit quite the same. The quick fixes stop filling the emptiness. The options that once made him feel powerful start looking like distractions from the life he hasn’t had the courage to sort out. And sooner or later, he has to sit with himself. No new woman to chase.
No messages to hide. No drama to distract him.
No excuses to hide behind. No next adventure to stop him thinking. Just him.
The energy of this card today is about recognising the error of your ways or those of others. It’s about realising that being impulsive isn’t the same as being free. Having options isn’t the same as having something meaningful. Being desired isn’t the same as being loved. And constantly running from discomfort doesn’t mean you’ve escaped your problems. It means you’ve postponed dealing with them.
You cannot build a stable life while continually behaving in ways that destroy your stability.
You cannot keep expecting people to trust you when your actions give them reasons not to.
You cannot keep hurting people, avoiding accountability and then wondering why your relationships never work out. At some point, you have to stop blaming your circumstances and start examining your choices. And that takes maturity. Not another relationship. Not another affair. Not another person to make you feel attractive, important or wanted. It takes honesty.
It takes accountability. It takes the courage to be alone long enough to work out why you keep repeating the same patterns.
This card speaks to the consequences of avoiding the inner work. When you keep making decisions based on immediate gratification, eventually something gives. The relationship breaks down. The lies stop adding up. The person you thought would always be there reaches their limit. The carefully constructed image begins to crumble. And suddenly, you’re faced with the reality you’ve been trying to avoid. That’s the Tower. It’s the moment when the version of your life you’ve been presenting to the world can no longer hold together because the foundations underneath it aren’t solid. You can hide things for a while. You can manage different stories, keep people separate and convince yourself you’ve got everything under control. But you cannot build genuine security on dishonesty. And here’s the uncomfortable truth: sometimes the Tower isn’t bad luck. Sometimes it’s the consequences of decisions you’ve repeatedly chosen to make.
You don’t always need another opportunity. Sometimes you need to stop sabotaging the opportunities you’ve already been given.
The energy of this weekend invites us to look at what happens when avoidance, secrecy and impulsive behaviour finally meet accountability.
Something hidden may come to light. A conversation may expose an uncomfortable truth. Someone may reach a point where they refuse to accept the same behaviour any longer. The Tower asks us to be honest about what is already unstable and what can no longer continue as it is.
And if you’re the person whose choices have created the mess? You have a decision to make. Keep running, keep lying, keep blaming everyone else. Or finally face yourself and tell the truth.
Are you overindulging because you’re genuinely enjoying your life, or because you can’t bear to sit quietly with your own thoughts? Are you constantly chasing attention, s*x, alcohol, excitement, fun, fantasy and the next big distraction because something inside you feels unfulfilled? Are you keeping yourself so busy chasing the next thrill that you never have to confront the hurt, insecurity, loneliness or emptiness underneath it? Because excess can become a form of escape. You can fill every evening with excitement and still feel empty when you get home. You can have a hundred options and still have no idea what you actually want.
You can be surrounded by people who desire you and still struggle to feel worthy of genuine love.
And you can keep distracting yourself from your problems, but distraction isn’t resolution. Your demons don’t disappear just because you refuse to look at them. They show up in your choices, your relationships, your reactions and the patterns you keep repeating. The Knight of Wands is being asked to stop running long enough to recognise what he’s running from. And sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is spend time alone, take responsibility for your behaviour and learn how to feel fulfilled without needing somebody else to provide the next emotional high.
If somebody is inconsistent, pay attention. If their words and actions don’t match, pay attention.
If they only show up when they want something, pay attention. If they keep you confused, make you question your instincts or expect you to accept behaviour they’d never tolerate from you, pay attention. If somebody repeatedly crosses your boundaries and then blames you for having them, stop making excuses for them. Chemistry is not character. Sexual attraction is not emotional maturity. Grand promises are not commitment. And somebody wanting access to you does not mean they deserve it. You are not responsible for teaching another adult how to be honest, faithful, respectful or emotionally accountable. You cannot love somebody into maturity. You cannot heal somebody who refuses to do the work. And you cannot build a healthy relationship with somebody who is determined to keep one foot out of the door.
You can recognise their potential, understand their wounds and have compassion for their struggles without volunteering to be the person who gets hurt while they figure themselves out.
And if you recognise this energy in yourself, Stop chasing the quick fix. Stop using other people to validate your worth. Stop running away from difficult conversations. Stop confusing impulsiveness with freedom. And stop expecting a different outcome while repeating the same behaviour.
The Knight of Wands has the courage to charge into a room, chase what he wants and take a risk.
But does he have the courage to sit still, face himself and take responsibility for the damage he’s caused? THAT is the real test of his character.
So ask yourself:
✨ Am I chasing excitement because it genuinely brings me joy, or because I’m avoiding something?
✨ Am I choosing people because I value them, or because I need the validation of being wanted?
✨ Am I building something meaningful, or am I just looking for my next quick fix?
✨ Am I prepared to face the consequences of my actions?
✨ And if my life fell apart tomorrow, would I recognise the choices that helped bring me here?
It’s time to get off the horse, put the wand down and do the inner work. Your next chapter cannot be built on the same old behaviour.
