**Who decided garden season ends in September anyway? 🍂☕**

A sunny October afternoon, something warm to drink, a comfy chair and nowhere you particularly need to be…

Sounds pretty good to us.

You might need a jumper rather than shorts, but we're not giving up on the garden just yet. 😉

**Are you still sitting outside in October, or have you officially retreated indoors until spring?**

**October weather in North Devon… 🍂**

8am: Definitely coat weather.
11am: Quite nice actually.
1pm: Why am I wearing a coat? ☀️
3pm: Is that rain?
5pm: Yep. Definitely autumn. 😂

The garden doesn't suddenly become out of bounds just because September has finished.

A retractable awning gives you a little more flexibility to make the most of those surprisingly lovely autumn days — because when the sun does make an appearance, it would be rude not to enjoy it!

**Natural light: YES ☀️**

**The entire street being able to see what you're having for dinner: NO. 👀**

This is precisely why we love shutters.

Tilt them to let the daylight in while keeping a little privacy from the outside world.

Especially useful if you have particularly… *observant* neighbours. 😂

**Things nobody tells you about having shutters…**

You will adjust them by approximately 3mm and somehow decide the whole room looks better.

You will admire the shadows they make when the sun comes through.

You will occasionally look at somebody else's windows and think:

*"Shutters would look good there."*

Or maybe that's just us. 😂

Which one best describes your home?

And more importantly… is that the style you **actually chose**, or just what your home somehow became over the years? 😂

When you want a new room… but your bank account suggests new curtains instead. 😂

Thankfully, sometimes that's all it takes.

A different colour, pattern or texture at the window can completely change how a room feels — without redecorating everything else.

Our ready-made curtains are perfect for those “I'm bored of this room” moments.

Much easier than moving house. 😉

**Is it too early to mention cosy evenings? 🍂**

We're reaching that strange time of year where it's glorious sunshine one minute… and you're considering putting the heating on the next.

And suddenly those soft fabrics, warm colours and big beautiful curtains start looking VERY appealing again.

We're not wishing summer away.

Promise. 👀

**Settling an important household debate… 👀**

When you close your curtains at night, are you:

A) Carefully arranging every fold so they hang perfectly
B) Pulling them shut and walking away
C) Somewhere in between
D) Genuinely confused why anyone would care 😂

We spend our days making beautiful made-to-measure curtains… so perhaps we're slightly biased towards **A**.

See Our Latest Awning Installation in Action

We've recently completed another beautiful awning installation, transforming an outdoor seating area into a comfortable space that's ready to enjoy throughout the summer.

Our latest project shows just how quickly an awning can add shade, comfort and style to your home.

🎥 Watch the installation video on our website and see the transformation for yourself.

Thinking about adding an awning to your home? We'd be delighted to help. https://merlininteriors.co.uk/awnings/
