We’ve been busy processing our latest batch of Yew logs and have filled this dumpy bag with the offcuts. 🪵

These are the pieces that don’t meet the standards for our website, mostly as they’re too long/short or bent/crotch pieces so still very useable.

Some info:
- Unseasoned, freshly cut (not sure when tree came down but logs were cut last week).

- Mix of sizes. Approx 50-200mm diameter

- Some straight and lots of crotch pieces

- Dumpy bag is 800 x 800 x 800mm

Happy to answer any questions if anyone is interested.

£100 for the lot.

Collection North Devon EX31 3NF or can deliver at cost

We’ve got another wonderful ‘Featured Maker’ this week. It’s talented, London based, multi-media artist Sarah Davis Sarah Davis

Sarah’s work investigates the complex dynamics of our internal bodily processes and her approaches often have a deep historical resonance.

The fluidity and shapes she creates in her carvings are so beautiful and compliment the wood so well.

Sarah has also recently ordered some more wood from us so we can’t wait to see what beautiful treasures she carves it into.

As always, tag us English Woods to be featured.

We’re really excited to be heading to the Ashridge Wood Fair in Devon on Saturday.

It’s set to be a great day with lots of fun things planned and the forecast is looking good too!

We really love all things wood so can’t wait for a wonderful wood-filled day! We’ll have some boards, bowls, spindles and carving blanks too.

If you’re local, pop in and say hello. Hope to see some of you there 🌳

This past weekend has been another ‘scorcher’ ☀️😎⛱️ so our featured maker this week involves woodturning with fire! 🔥

Thank you to Kimberly at Wern Wood turning for sharing photos of her makes with us- and what unique and stunning pieces these are 😍

Kimberly is a self-taught woodturner, and this ‘Fire Bowl’ was turned from a Poplar blank from English Woods, charred on the outside and coloured on the inside after turning.

Check out to see how this bowl, and many more projects, are made. Kimberly is on YouTube (see details in her bio) where you can also watch some of her makes in action 🔥

This week’s featured maker is Worcester-based Anita, and we were blown away by these beautifully crafted tool handles, made with yew from English Woods.

She’s shared some of the challenges of working with yew:
‘I knew it would be harder to get a clean finish but flippin’ heck!’

We think her hard work and determination definitely paid off!

To learn more about it and see more of her work, catch Anita at or maybe even at a local event over the Summer ☀️
