A Dark New Immersive Theatre Experience Is Coming To Barnstaple This Halloween

SINS arrives at Queen's Theatre this October, bringing audiences a disturbing live experience where the audience themselves become part of the judgement.

This October, audiences at the Queen’s Theatre Barnstaple will experience SINS, a dark new theatrical production blending immersive storytelling, psychological tension and live audience interaction across the Halloween weekend.
At the centre of the experience stands a masked figure known only as The Examiner.
Before him sit seven individuals, each representing one of the Seven Deadly Sins:
Lust. Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Pride. Envy.

As their stories unfold through live performance, CCTV footage, leaked videos, phone recordings and disturbing fragments of evidence, the audience is drawn directly into the process of judgement itself.
Using their own mobile devices throughout the show, audience members take part in live trials, interactive challenges, moral decisions and real-time verdicts that directly influence the experience unfolding around them.

No one sees what you choose.
No one knows how you voted.
But every decision has consequences.

Blending immersive entertainment, true crime, interactive technology and live theatre, SINS has been designed for audiences looking for an experience that feels immediate, unsettling and unforgettable.

SINS comes to the Queen’s Theatre Barnstaple on Friday 30th October and Halloween night, Saturday 31st October 2026.

“What on Earth Brought You to Barnstaple?” Judge’s Astonishment as Brazilian Influencer Jailed for Drug Dealing

A Brazilian influencer who claimed North Devon’s scenic views drew him to the area has been jailed for two years and eight months after being caught with co***ne ready for delivery on Barnstaple’s streets.

The case left an Exeter Crown Court judge questioning how a man who had travelled from Brazil ended up dealing Class A drugs in North Devon.

“You've arrived at Heathrow and of all the gin joints go to Barnstaple from London. It takes a bit of doing,” the judge remarked, describing the defendant’s explanation as difficult to understand.

Caught with co***ne ready for delivery

Bruno Leite, 24, was stopped by police on patrol in New Road, Barnstaple, while sitting in a Vauxhall Astra registered in Woking.

Officers found him with £1,000 in cash and 21 bags of co***ne, reportedly valued at £840, which were ready to be delivered.

Messages recovered from his phone showed that handlers were tracking his movements and directing him to carry out drug deals around the town.

The court heard that Leite had allegedly been operating under the cover of Deliveroo gig work while in the UK on a temporary visitor visa.

Judge questions the explanation

The defence portrayed Leite as an innocent tourist who had somehow become involved in drug dealing after being drawn to the area’s scenery.

However, Judge James Patrick questioned the account, asking: “When he's sitting at home in Brazil what's going through his mind? 'I fancy a change and I'm going to do Deliveroo in Barnstaple?'”

The judge added that he struggled to understand what had brought Leite from Brazil to Barnstaple and led him into drug dealing.

When the court heard that Leite wanted to keep his mobile phone because he had a social media following back home, the judge was unimpressed.

“I'm told you are an influencer in Brazil, whatever that means,” he said.

The phone was ordered to be permanently confiscated, along with the cash seized during the investigation. The judge noted that the device had been used to coordinate the drug deliveries.

Prison sentence and possible deportation

Leite was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

Judge Patrick said that, given Leite’s lack of genuine ties to the UK, he saw little prospect of rehabilitation in the country. He also expressed the hope that Leite’s permission to remain in the UK would be revoked and that he would be deported during his sentence.

What do you think?

The case has raised questions about how organised drug networks operate in towns such as Barnstaple, and how people can become involved in criminal activity while visiting the UK.

🔥 Barnstaple CeX Fire Was Deliberately Started, Fire Service Says

Firefighters were called to the High Street after rubbish outside the shop caught fire and the flames spread inside

Two fire engines were called to the store at 30 High Street at around 8.45pm on Sunday, October 4, following reports that rubbish outside the premises was on fire.

When crews arrived, they found the rubbish alight and confirmed that the fire had spread inside the shop.

Firefighters from Barnstaple station tackled the blaze using four breathing apparatus sets and two hose reel jets, while a smoke clearance fan was used to clear the building.

The fire service said the shop suffered 10 per cent fire damage and 100 per cent smoke damage.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as deliberate.

CeX is a retail chain specialising in second-hand technology and entertainment products, including mobile phones, laptops, games consoles and video games.

The incident was recorded as closed by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service at 3.49am on Monday, October 5.

💬 What do you make of this?

The fire caused significant smoke damage to the shop despite the reported fire damage being limited to 10 per cent.

Suzanne is getting married tomorrow. At 40, she’s a little older, a little wiser, and hoping she’s finally got it right! She is settling down with Gary, an accountant; a reliable man and a sensible choice. Does she have any regrets? Her mother, Eleanor, will be sure to remind her of all her less-than-perfect moments, as they spend an evening in the luxury hotel suite that the lovely Gary has booked as a gift. Her daughter, 18-year-old Laurie is joining them too, with plenty of opinions about Suzanne’s plans and some uncomfortable questions about her past. The three women spend this auspicious evening sharing memories, secrets, and rather a lot of booze…what will be revealed? And what does the waiter make of it all?!

Writer and Comedian Katy Brand dedicates her play to “any woman in pursuit of her own happiness”- a fitting introduction to this warm, funny and painfully honest exploration of three generations of women, which raises the question of what it means to be a woman in the twenty-first century. Recommended for audiences aged 14+.

This amateur production of 3WOMEN is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French, Ltd.
