How can hospitality interiors introduce character without relying on overt themes?

This apartment at HomeToo Liverpool explores a softer, more layered approach, combining artwork, material contrast and curated objects to create a sense of warmth and individuality within a calm contemporary setting.

Rather than competing for attention, each element contributes quietly to the overall atmosphere of the space.

The result is an environment designed to feel balanced, comfortable and enduring for guests.

How can a space reflect a city’s identity without feeling literal?

At HomeToo Liverpool, this apartment draws on maritime references - a quieter nod to the city’s relationship with water, movement and navigation.

Layered materials, tonal blues and considered detailing create a space that feels connected to its context, while remaining calm, comfortable and highly usable for guests.

Moments of character are balanced with clarity - ensuring the space supports both atmosphere and everyday function.

How can an apartment hotel room capture the spirit of a city?

At HomeToo in Liverpool, individual guest rooms were designed to reflect elements of the city’s cultural identity. This music-inspired space explores how colour, graphic form and carefully considered detailing can create a memorable hospitality experience.

While each room has its own character, the underlying design remains grounded in spatial clarity and comfort — ensuring the environment feels both expressive and welcoming for guests.

Projects like HomeToo demonstrate how interior architecture can support both identity and atmosphere within contemporary hospitality spaces.

Inspired by Liverpool’s musical heritage.

Environmental responsibility in design is not a statement — it is a responsibility.

Working within historic structures demands careful stewardship. Materials are selected for longevity. Existing architectural elements are retained and restored where possible. Interventions are measured, not excessive.

Sustainability, for us, is rooted in respect — for buildings, for craftsmanship, and for future generations.

Design today must adapt — not only to architecture, but to how people live, gather, and evolve.

Our work across private homes and heritage hotels reflects a philosophy of adaptation. Interiors are shaped around real lives, real collections, real operational needs. Historic context is respected, but never preserved as a museum piece.

The result is immersive environments that feel deeply personal yet quietly contemporary.

How does a design studio remain relevant in a changing cultural landscape?

For us, it begins with integration. Architecture, interiors, brand identity and lived experience are never treated as separate disciplines. Each project is shaped through dialogue — between heritage and modernity, between client ambition and architectural integrity, between personal narrative and collective memory.

Whether working on a private historic home or a commercial hospitality project, our approach is rooted in exchange. We listen carefully. We design deliberately. We build environments that hold meaning.

A big part of this project was to ensure that there was flow and space for the family as well as being able to host friends and parties. For this we had to do detailed work on the interior architecture of the property, taking a technical approach to the spatial arrangement of internal spaces. This specialism considers how spaces are to be constructed and how the various essential services will be integrated. It is a skill that blends the art of interior decoration, interior design and architecture.

For the principal bedroom in this Notting Hill house we used some of the remaining timber from the dining room to create the headboard on which we decided to hang a printed panoramic, the fabric is a beautiful forest mountain scene. As the bed is higher than average, a pair of Soho Home side tables were adapted as bedside tables, the brass giving a connection to the bar downstairs.

One of the favourite parts of any project is putting in place the final touches as these can have a profound impact on the space and client. After construction has been completed, we dress and style the house according to our interior design plan for a smooth, efficient handover. This is the one of most satisfying parts of our work and Is where we add final touches and finishing details with immaculate, characterful and personal touches.
