A pair of 19th century X-frame armchairs in gold-toned velvet, with acorn finials, scrolled arms and decorative studs, braid and fringe.

The design draws on Renaissance seating of the late 15th and early 16th centuries, with roots in the ancient curule chair.

Both frames are sturdy, with sprung seats and traditional horsehair build-up. Some velvet discolouration, an upholstery repair to one backrest and losses around the feet.

A 19thC walnut occasional table by C. Hindley and Sons, circa 1880. The octagonal top stands on four turned supports, joined by stretchers with a central finial, above curved, reeded feet.

Stamped with the maker’s name and Oxford Street address. Sturdy and in very good condition.

A compact antique two-seater sofa, with a tall shaped back, tapered legs and two drop arms. Fully sprung throughout, including the seat’s front edge.

154cm wide, extending to 226cm with both arms lowered. Offered for reupholstery, with the arm mechanisms requiring a little attention.
