Sometimes the painting underneath is the one you have to destroy to find the one that’s meant to stay.
This one has been through a lot.
Over a year of adding, taking away, scraping back and starting again.
I had no end point in mind. I just kept responding to what was happening on the canvas.
That willingness to keep destroying and rebuilding is probably the biggest part of my process.
Eventually, you reach that moment where you stop questioning it.
It just gets there.
This is where this one landed.
