Hello!

We are Sofia and Leanne, and The Bristol Stitchery was set up in 2015 after many evenings and weekends sewing together. We both fell pregnant in 2015 (albeit 8 months apart), and found that we both shared frustrations of not finding the right maternity clothes in the right fabrics, and baby clothes that we really loved. We realised that we could make awesome clothes for our little ones and wanted

to share this with other mums-to-be too! That’s why we set up The Bristol Stitchery. Taking what we know and love about sewing, and what we’ve learnt and love about little people, we decided to offer other parents, parents-to-be and carers the chance to try something different, make some new friends and get back some all-important ‘you’ time…

We'll be offering classes where you’ll be shown how to make unique, organic babywear that your little one will be proud to dribble on. And you don’t even need to know your way around a needle and thread. We’ll take you through it, step by step and at your pace. Because most of all we want you to sit back, put your feet up (on a pedal!) and discover the joys of sewing and having a good old natter.

I decided I needed a couple more masks as I've somehow managed to misplace about three masks in recent months...is it just me or are they like hair clips, they just disappear?! 🙈🤣🤷
It's probably safe to say I have a fair amount of fabric scraps (😬😅) so I made two using the pattern this afternoon while my little one slept. This is one of them, using some lovely viscose linen from I bought in summer 2020.

You can make up to age 13yrs, and the fabric is such a lovely, soft organic jersey. My little one loves hers! 🥰

There are three festive unisex fabrics to choose from 🎄🎉✨

📢 Our Christmas PJ workshop is in 2 weeks time on 4th December, from 1.30pm-5.30pm.

In it you'll learn how to make not just one but two items of clothing, and all the fabric and trimmings are included. You can make any age from newborn to 13 years old, and choose from three lovely soft organic fabrics by

Another day, another by
This one is even better though as I got the fabric given to me from a friend (thanks 😘) and I didn't even hem the bottom or sleeves as it's a soft back terry so literally was one of the quickest and most satisfying makes 🤣
Plus it's just in time for the cold weather we're (finally!) having here in the UK.

I've got two or three more of these planned, hopefully from some I've got my eye on 👀 and the I reckon my winter wardrobe will be sorted (well, in terms of useful tops that is... 🤭)

As it's the starts of November it seems apt to mention the C word 🤣😬

Our first ever Christmas workshop is happening next month on Saturday 4th December

In this 4 hour workshop you will get to make a set of pyjamas for your little one, all the fabric, elastic and cuffs are included. We'll also be providing festive treats 🎄🍰

I made these for my little one last Christmas (➡️swipe to see)and they still fit her great ☺️

Happy Halloween!  🎃🐈‍⬛ In the spirit of trying to make as much of our own costumes as possible my outfit is entirely homemade (and contain items I would wear again on other occasions!). 

- velvet leggings using (already owned these!)

- velvet top made on Friday night

- cat ears and tail from some fabric also made on Friday night

It was so lovely to be back teaching the romper class on Thursday night at and I just love how proud Francesca and Donna are of their makes 🥰 When you sew the cuffs on and turn it the right way round it's like 'oh wow, I just made that!! 🤩' 👏👏👏

We've got spaces on our leggings class on Thursday 4th November if you want to learn how to make some leggings for your little one, you can choose any size from newborn to 3 years old, and we'll provide the fabric and elastic, tea and biscuits ☺️
