The vintage blanket box is finished.

There were a lot of marks on the lid from a vase and a broken hinge. I sanded back the top just enough to get rid of the circles, and I very lightly sanded the surrounding area.

This leaves the main area looking far to new so I need to age it before applying stain. The hinge was saved by a local welder and reinstalled using new screws as the original ones had seen far better days.

I finished the top with 6 coats of antique wax as she was extremely dry and brittle, she drank up the moisture in the wax. Now she's ready for another 100 years.

Grandfather clock update:

After the nightmare of removing the putty the rest of the frame is cleaning up nice.

In the last photo you can see the difference of a very, very light sand to remove dirt and build up. The lighter colour is closer to the original.

Still plenty of work to do, but the hardest tasks are out the way 😊

Good morning all, what a beautiful start to the day it is too.

Perfect to get out in the garden, enjoy the outdoors and blow away the cobwebs from being cooped up the past few days.

I'm open this morning till 1pm. I've got a few random planters in stock and can build what ever sizes you may need. I've also got a range of garden furniture built to order with a new edition being unveiled soon so watch this space.

Talking of announcements, I'll be releasing details of my upcoming Upcycling classes soon that will be starting in the Autumn. There's been a lot of interest in these classes so they will be on a first come, first serve basis, with priority going to my followers.
