🏠 ASKED A TRADESMAN FOR A QUOTE LATELY?

If the quote doesn’t suit you for whatever reason, that’s absolutely fine.

You might decide it’s too expensive, you’ve gone with someone else, or you’ve simply changed your mind.

But please — don’t just ghost them.

That tradesman has likely worked a full day, then taken the time to travel to your property, look around the job, discuss what you want and put together a quote — usually completely FREE of charge.

You don’t have to accept the quote.

You don’t even have to give a reason.

But a simple “Thanks for your time, we’ve decided not to go ahead” takes 10 seconds and costs nothing.

It’s basic courtesy, and it genuinely means a lot.
Tradesmen understand that not every quote will turn into a job.

Just acknowledge the time they’ve put in. 👍

Sometimes you might think a professional painting job is expensive…

But having it done poorly can end up costing you twice.

Yesterday I went to a room for an existing customer.
She had originally asked me to do the work, but unfortunately we didn’t have the availability at the time, so she decided to go with someone else.

She told me he was significantly cheaper.

Unfortunately, the finish showed it.

The specification was for the ceiling colour to be dropped a few feet, but the cut line was more like a heart monitor than a straight line. 😳

There was no proper filling or sanding, cracks hadn’t been addressed, and the woodwork had simply one coat of water-based satin applied over previously painted oil-based paint.

So yesterday, we put it right.

Proper preparation.
Proper products.
Proper finish.

This is exactly why I always say:

It’s not just about putting paint on the walls. It’s about the preparation underneath it.

You can pay less initially, but if it needs doing again, you haven't saved money.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

At PF Painting & Decorating, our prices reflect the time, preparation, products and standard we put into every job.

🎨🔥 APPRENTICE CHALLENGE – WIN A FULL ROOM TRANSFORMATION! 🔥🎨

This is Conor my son & apprentice - he loves a wee cup of tea 🤪

We’re giving Conor the opportunity to take on a full room from start to finish, working independently — and we’re looking for someone who’d like to give him that chance! 💪

🏠 We’re looking for a room ideally in Belfast that needs a fresh new look.

I’ll be covering all paint, materials and costs, while overseeing the project to make sure the finished job meets the high standards of PF Painting & Decorating.

HOW TO ENTER 👇

📸 Send us a photo of the room you'd like transformed
📍 Tell us where you're based
📝 Give us a quick idea of what you'd like done

📅 IMPORTANT: We have a date in mind for the project to begin — Friday 11th September 2026.

Please only enter if you are available for the project to begin on this date. This will allow us to keep the draw fair and avoid disappointing anyone who isn't available.

All suitable entries will be put into a draw, and one lucky winner will have their room transformed by Conor! 🎨🙌

This is a great opportunity for him to put everything he's learned into practice, build confidence and take the next step in his development — while giving one lucky person a freshly decorated room.

Conor has not begin wallpapering yet, so this is a painting job only 💥

📩 To enter, send your details and a photo of the room by Facebook message.

Good luck! 🤞🎨
