Hillhead Crafts Hillhead Crafts deliver bespoke craft classes and workshops such as scrapbooking, card making, candlemaking and creative embroidery.

Hillhead Crafts has been in operation since 2011 and is run by Lorna and Michael Watson, who live in the rural area of Ballystockart, near Dundonald, Belfast. The company sell craft making kits and supplies, and deliver a number of bespoke craft classes and workshops, which aim to help build confidence and the skills of the participants. They cover a range of craft topics including:

• Scrapbook Classes or Memory Book Making
• Card Making & Papercrafting
• Altered Frame or Mirror
• Brooches
• Felt Making
• Gift Boxes
• Creative Embroidery
• Wedding Stationery
• Candle Making
• Soap Making & Bath Bomb Making

Currently the workshops take place in either their bespoke home studio on the outskirts of Belfast, or in venues across Northern Ireland to suit different groups. Hillhead Crafts caters for various church and community groups, day care centres, groups of friends, hen parties and children's parties. Busy day at Aghalee Village Hall yesterday for the destash event where I picked up a FEW bargains! I can't wait to give the wooden printing blocks a go on some linen fabric or a tote bag and I have already tried out the metallic candle transfers on a pillar candle and was pretty impressed with the result. As for the other bargains - I will share with you when I get a chance to use them in some upcoming projects.

Preparations underway for the Knit and Stitch Event that will be at the Eikon Exhiition Centre from 12-15 November. This will be one of the little kits that I plan to launch at the event and will be on special offer for anyone attending my workshops. A little bit of an experimentation day at Hillhead Crafts making a water candle in a glass. Autumn inclusions added to the bottom before adding water and wax. Not perfect and the presentation would be improved by a floating candle and so project 2 was to make a floating candle using a patisserie tin. This turned out well but would obviously need a l***r glass. Also made some floral candles and a few wax melts to use up the wax. I have done some further research on the water candle as I wasn't sure how easy this would be to transport home for participants and I am now clearly of the view that a floating candle would be a much safer option. These water candles are really for decorative purposes only.

Some of the goat's milk soaps infused with lemontree and orange essential oils which were made at the workshop last night by Christine, Dorcas and Hazel. They look and smell amazing. It's never too early to think about Christmas stocking fillers and the workshop has prompted me to start making some soaps and decorating some spice jars ready for handmade bath salts. The next workshop will be on Mon 5 Oct when we will be using epoxy resin to make key chains, pendants, bookmarks and coasters. The choice is yours - booking available at www.hillheadcrafts.co.uk

✂️📚 What a lovely day of Junk Art Journalling!
Yesterday I spent a lovely day at Aghalee Village Hall creating a Junk Art Journal from scratch. We started by making the covers from recycled Amazon envelopes, then created and stitched in our signatures using an assortment of papers - magazine pages, music sheets, handmade papers and lots more.
Then came the really fun part… cutting, ripping, gluing, layering and simply seeing where our creativity took us! 😂
There’s something wonderfully relaxing about the simple act of cutting and gluing pieces of paper when everyone becomes completely absorbed in what they’re creating. Mine was botanical themed and there are still a few more pages to complete.
A huge thank you to Nancy and Alyssa from for facilitating the workshop and such an enjoyable day. ✂️📖❤️
