One of the services we offer is House Dressing, helping you get your home looking its best before it goes on the market. And sometimes, it’s the little things that make a surprising difference!
Here's a tip for dealing with black sinks.

Black sinks look fabulous, but here in Yorkshire, where limescale is a constant battle, they can quickly start looking grey, dull and a bit past their best.
The good news? It might not need replacing!

I used Kilrock Limescale Remover to get rid of the build-up and bring this one back to looking smart and polished. What a difference!

A word of warning, though. Kilrock is powerful stuff! Wear rubber gloves, use a face mask, and always follow the safety instructions.

My best tip? Regular treatment will help stop your black sink getting into this state in the first place.

When you're selling your home, you want buyers to see its potential, not a list of jobs that need doing. Sometimes, a little attention to detail is all it takes to make things look so much better.

That's what we do with House Dressing — helping your home look loved, cared for and ready for its next chapter. 🏡✨

A refresh this week…

Sometimes a house doesn’t need a complete change. It just needs a little love and attention.

This week we refreshed the kitchen, living room, stairs and landing, bathroom and bedroom — keeping the existing colour scheme but bringing everything back to life with fresh, beautifully applied paint.

But, as always, we did more than just paint.

We removed years of old paint splatter from light switches, doors and the staircase, cleaned the window frames and removed excess old caulk so that we could get those crisp, neat lines where the walls meet the woodwork.

Because a great decorating job isn’t just about putting paint on the walls.

It’s the little details that make all the difference.

The things you might not notice individually… but somehow make the whole house look cleaner, fresher and beautifully finished.

That’s what we mean by more than just painting.

The A team back together!!
Rebecca of Spice Interior Design and I working our magic.
Sometimes a room doesn’t need more — it just needs the right colour.

This Merchantgate apartment in York had lovely bones, but the yellowy cream walls weren’t doing anything to enhance the room. We changed them to Benjamin Moore OC-18 Dove Wing, a beautiful, understated neutral that works particularly well when you have grey or silver elements in the room.

The ceiling was another story! It was horribly patchy, so that got a thorough makeover too, using Tikkurila AR2 to give it a much cleaner, fresher finish.

Then there was the small room…

It was a rather unfortunate shade of lilac, and the little built-in shelf unit was looking decidedly odd. It hadn’t even been caulked properly, so we sorted that out before giving everything a proper finish.

The windows and woodwork were painted in Benjamin Moore Scuff-X — hardwearing, practical and beautifully smooth.

Nothing dramatic. Just good preparation, thoughtful colour choices and attention to the details that make all the difference.
