As we mark Men’s Mental Health Week, we’re proud to reflect on the completion of the Phoenix High Dependency Rehabilitation Unit for the Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust
Designed as a specialist male-only rehabilitation facility, the unit provides a secure and therapeutic environment for individuals living with complex and enduring mental health needs, supporting long-term recovery and wellbeing.
Our team delivered the architecture, interior design, and CDM & Building Regulations Principal Designer services for this significant project. From concept to completion, the £1.8–£2 million refurbishment was delivered in just seven months, with the first patients welcomed shortly after handover.
Here’s the team checking the final finishes before the opening of the unit.
The feedback from the clinical team has been overwhelmingly positive, and the project is already attracting interest from other NHS Trusts looking to create similar therapeutic spaces.
Creating environments that promote dignity, independence and recovery is at the heart of what we do, and we’re looking forward to seeing the positive impact Phoenix will have on both patients and staff in the months and years ahead.
