There's something satisfying about seeing a finished component come off the machine looking like this.

These stainless steel threaded parts are a great example of the quality, precision and consistency our team delivers every day. From raw material to finished component, attention to detail matters at every stage of the process.

It's easy to focus on the finished shine, but the real achievement is the expertise, planning and care that goes into producing parts that meet specification time after time.

Getting footage of our machines in action sounds simple enough. Finding the time to set up cameras between customer deadlines and a busy shop floor is another story entirely.

Thanks to the help of a few of our setters, I'm slowly building a collection of short clips from around the workshop. This one is a straightforward operation: parting off a component so it can be machined on the reverse side.

It also highlights one of the biggest challenges when filming machining... coolant.

Coolant is absolutely essential to protect tooling, manage heat, and maintain part quality. Unfortunately for anyone behind a camera, it also makes it nearly impossible to see what's happening at the cutting edge.

Whenever you see machining footage without coolant, there's usually some extra work happening behind the scenes. In many cases, the setters have adjusted the program to allow a short filming opportunity while making sure the process remains safe for the machine, tooling, and component.

Not every machining video needs flying chips and dramatic sparks. Sometimes a simple parting off operation tells the story just as well.

Before any production starts, we make sure the foundation is right.

This chuck is being bored out to match the machine perfectly. It removes any rust, roughness or debris that could affect accuracy or damage parts during machining.

It’s a standard step for us because attention to detail at the start leads to higher quality finished products every time.

Everyone likes seeing the finished shiny parts polished to perfection.

But this is the real work behind manufacturing.

The dirty, gritty side of production where parts actually get made. This clip shows part of the setup process on one of our machines.

Does anyone know what machine this is? Bonus points if you can identify the model!

This clip showcases our Nakamura-Tome NTY³-150 triple turret platform, where three independent turrets operate simultaneously across both sides of the component. The result is a significant reduction in production time without compromising on precision or consistency.

For manufacturers focused on margin, throughput, and scalability, this kind of multi-channel machining isn’t just impressive, it directly impacts cost per part and overall operational efficiency.

If you're reviewing your current machining strategy, it’s worth considering where parallel processing could unlock measurable savings.

We do not usually get to see this side of things.

By cutting this part in half, we were able to measure internal features much more accurately and get a clear view of what is normally hidden.

It is a simple step, but it can make a big difference when precision matters.

Also, it is just interesting to see what is going on inside.

Say hi to Matt, one of our Sliding Head Setters.

He’s busy setting up the next job on our Citizen L20. Quick question for the expert, Can anyone tell me what he’s holding?

Not the guide bush, the other bit.
Matt calls it a “Guide Bush Assembly Clamp", but we’re fairly sure that’s a name he’s invented.

What would you call it?

A look inside our multispindle section in action
This video shows stainless steel nut production running on a 1 3/4" x6 Wickman multispindle
A great example of how we handle high volume components with consistency and efficiency, keeping cycle times competitive while maintaining high quality throughout the production run.
Always happy to support our customers with projects where scale and repeatability matter.

Off-centre milled holes.
Undercut relief on a turned part.
Tight access, tight tolerances.

This is where attention to detail really shows.

Features like these demand control, consistency, and a team that takes pride in getting into the difficult areas and delivering the same result every time.

It comes down to process, discipline, and care in every pass.
Because the small details carry just as much weight as the headline dimensions.

That is the standard we bring to every component.
