🍞 LET'S TALK BREAD! 🍞
There's been lots of talk about sourdough bread recently, and it's fantastic to see so many people getting into bread-making!
Sourdough is often celebrated as “real bread”, traditionally made with just flour, water and salt. But there's a whole world of other delicious breads out there too!
But "Real bread" doesn't have to be sourdough.** ❤️
You can make wonderful bread and rolls using baker's yeast, with ingredients such as olive oil, milk, seeds, nuts, herbs or dried fruit. It's all about choosing the ingredients you enjoy and making bread that works for you, always making sure there are no artifical ingredients as you go.
In our house, sourdough isn't our usual choice. We love having the flexibility to make fresh bread or rolls in a much shorter time — especially when we fancy homemade bread without having to plan too far ahead!
So I'm going to share some of our favourite Cookidoo® bread and roll recipes — the ones we come back to time and time again. Our "go-to" recipes!
We do enjoy making Portuguese bread occasionally, which uses yeast and has a lovely character of its own - almost like a sourdough. But most of the time, we're looking for a softer crust and bread that's perfect for sandwiches or toast. 🥪
We also like experimenting with different flours. We usually use Wessex Mill flour — strong white, wholemeal, six seed or cobber— often mixing them in different proportions to suit the loaf we're making. The "Basic Bread" recipe is the one we have tweaked to use
And that's one of the things I love about making bread with Thermomix®: - it makes the whole process so much easier. From weighing and mixing to kneading the dough, it takes a lot of the hard work out of bread-making.
Fancy taking it a step further? You can even grind your own flour from grains!
And if you need gluten-free options, there are plenty of bread recipes to explore too. 😊
There's no single right way to make bread — whether it's sourdough, a soft sandwich loaf, crusty rolls or something packed with seeds, it's about finding what you love.
