Firstly, thank you to everyone who has sent through messages of support and memories of dad, they have been lovely to read and have really helped us all through this very difficult time.
His funeral is Thursday April 29th at 1pm. In normal times I know that a lot of you would have attended in person, but with the restrictions currently in place we are limited to just 30 people, so we will be having the service streamed for those who would like to attend but can’t. You can access the service here: https://www.hdtribe.co.uk/our-chapels/shoreham-chapel/ click on ‘view funeral webcast’ and use the password russell29m
the stream will start about 15 minutes before the service.
Instead of flowers, if you would like to make a donation we are collecting for St Barnabas Hospice who gave us fantastic support in the last few days of dads life. Most of their income is from donations and it is vitally important that they are able to continue their important work. You can donate in dads name here: https://www.love2donate.co.uk//inmemory/identify_name.php?bc=448
And put Michael Russell into the search box.
Many thanks.
We are incredibly sad to announce the passing of Michael Russell at the age of 67.
Mike, or ‘Mr Aurac’ as he was known to many, started Aurac in 1980 in Little East Street, moving to the High Street a couple of years later and serving customers right up until his cancer diagnosis in May last year. He passed peacefully at home surround by his two sons who he worked with every day in the business, and his daughter who has worked in the business in the past.
We would like to thank all our customers and friends who have been asking after him over the last year and sending their love and best wishes. It meant a lot to him and to us during what has been a very difficult time.
We would also like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Worthing hospital, especially the Oncology department who gave us almost another year with him, and the fantastic staff at St Barnabas Hospice who have offered an amazing amount of support over recent weeks as we approached the end.
Obviously in these odd times there are limits on funerals, so it will be limited to family and close friends. If you would like to, instead of flowers, we will be asking for donations to St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing to help them continue their important work. You can either go to their site and make a donation in his name, or we will have something official set up soon when the funeral has been arranged.
We will be closed for a little while whilst we try to come to terms with our loss.
Graham and Robert
