What's fantastic about the Birmingham Bullring Markets is the heritage, it has been here for over a thousand years. I don't think some of the traders have, but its the knowledge and the passion is still their. It is our heritage, that is why you should keep coming down here and supporting the markets.

BULL RING RAG MARKET SOUTH WALL TRADERS
Dear Trader
Re: Spreading, Storing and Water Ingress
In recent weeks I have spoken to you with regards to your stall layout and the ongoing issues with water ingress on the south wall of St Martins Rag Market, at times of torrential down pours which can be detrimental to your business.

Although we have not experienced any rain of any significance in recent weeks, it is anticipated that in the coming days or weeks we are likely to experience some very heavy down pours or thunderstorms. It is during these periods of torrential rainfall when we are most likely to experience disruptive periods due to water ingress.

I do not believe this is due to the blockages in the drainpipes but it is more likely that the Rag Market as with many building in the area can not cope with the vast amounts of rainfall during such a short period of time.

As advised previously, to protect your stock I would suggest that you remove any items directly away from the back wall of the south wall and any items on the floor are put safely onto pallets or at a height where they cannot get wet.

I would add that by spreading and using stalls that do not belong to you will only increase the likelihood of more of your stock getting water damaged or potential disciplinary action could be undertaken for continued unauthorised use of space for which you are not licenced to trade from.

Affected traders have been advised on numerous occasions not to spread and to ensure stock is away from the wall and lifted off the floor. I also advise that Birmingham City Council will take no responsibility and will not be liable for any damages to your stock should there be any damage caused by water ingress.

Please assist in protecting your business by making the necessary simple adjustments.

🇯🇲 Happy Independence Day, Jamaica! 🇯🇲

Today we celebrate 64 years of independence—64 years of resilience, courage, culture, and the unbreakable spirit of the Jamaican people.
Jamaica has given the world far more than a beautiful island. It has shared the gift of reggae music, love, unity, faith, and the message that one small nation can inspire millions across the globe. From the majestic Blue Mountains to the golden beaches, from the heartbeat of Kingston to every corner of the island, Jamaica shines with a light that cannot be dimmed.

On this special day, I wish every Jamaican—at home and abroad—good health, peace, prosperity, happiness, and endless reasons to smile. May the spirit of One Love continue to unite generations, and may beautiful nation always remain strong, free, and proud.
Happy 64th Independence Day, Jamaica!
🇯🇲💛💚🖤
One People. One Nation. One Love.
May Jah continue to bless Jamaica and all her people. ❤️💛💚

The World War II civilian bombing memorial in Birmingham is the Tree of Life statue, created by artist Lorenzo Quinn and located on Edgbaston Street near St Martin in the Bull Ring. Unveiled on October 8, 2005, it honors the roughly 9,000 casualties and victims of the Birmingham Blitz.
