What's fantastic about the Birmingham Bullring Markets is the heritage, it has been here for over a thousand years. I don't think some of the traders have, but its the knowledge and the passion is still their. It is our heritage, that is why you should keep coming down here and supporting the markets.

It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of Dave Everett — a true pillar of Birmingham’s Bull Ring Markets.

For over 46 years, Dave was more than just a trader, he was the heart and voice of the outdoor market. As co-chairman of the traders association, he dedicated himself tirelessly to standing up for independent traders and protecting the traditions that make the Bull Ring so special.

We will also remember his campaign to bring the iconic Bull back to its rightful home — a reflection of how deeply he cared about the identity and history of the Bull Ring.

He was never afraid to speak up, always fighting against council and encouraging traders to stand together. His passion for the market and its people never wavered.

Dave wasn’t just a colleague to many — he was a friend, a mentor, and a familiar face who helped shape generations of market life.

He will be deeply missed by the all the Bullring Market traders , local community and everyone who knew him.

Rest in peace, Dave.

Birmingham Rag Market Saturday 13th December 2025.
You have got to laugh or you would just cry , someone forgot to pay for his sunglasses then knocks the whole stand over smashing another four pairs and smashing the stand.

Why people steal from small business I will never understand.

If you would like to come and pay we will take the video down for you thank you

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the recent passing of former long standing Bull Ring Market trader John ‘Eggy’ Harris

After leaving school John began working life as a plumber and then went on to have a spell of National Service in the army.

Back in Civvy street, around 1960, he began selling eggs on Birmingham Outdoor Market in the famous Bull Ring and from those early days, when he sold from an old desk, he went on to form a company that became one of the Midlands leading distributors of eggs and cheese.

His stall in the heart of Birmingham was just outside a frozen food shop Chilly Billy owned and managed by his dear wife Maxine for many years and his business became one of the country’s major importers of continental cheese.

In his personal life John had two children with wife Maxine, Nigel his son and his daughter, also called Maxine, and lived for many years on Chester Road in Stonnall, up on Shire Oak.

John will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. The thoughts of everyone here from all the Bull Ring Market traders and customers are with his family and friends at this sad time. ❤️
