The transformation starts long before the finish goes on.

For this project, the existing pine floorboards were sanded back to bare wood, removing years of wear, old coatings, and surface imperfections.

Working through multiple sanding stages allowed us to create a clean, consistent surface before applying a fresh finish that enhanced the natural grain and character of the boards.

The result is a brighter, cleaner space that still retains all of the charm of the original floor.

A great floor finish isn't just about the final coat. It's about everything that comes before it.

This floor wasn't replaced. It was transformed.

The original pine floorboards had become worn, tired, and uneven in colour after years of use. Rather than covering them up, the decision was made to restore them properly.

Using a multi-stage sanding process, we removed the existing finish and prepared the boards ready for a new finish. The floor was then stained to enhance the natural grain and create a richer, more consistent appearance throughout the room.

The result is a floor that feels warmer, more characterful, and ready for many more years of daily life.

Sometimes the best floor is the one already beneath your feet.

This classroom floor wasn't replaced. It was restored.

Years of daily use had left this parquet floor looking tired, scratched, and worn. But beneath the surface was a floor with plenty of life left in it.

Our team sanded the floor back to bare wood, removing the old finish and years of wear before applying a fresh protective seal to enhance the natural character of the parquet and prepare it for many more years of use.

The result is a floor that not only looks better but is protected against the demands of a busy school environment.

Most people will never see the most important part of this flooring project.

For this project at John Blow Primary School, the floor had suffered significant water damage and needed rebuilding from the slab upwards before a new floor could be installed.

With approximately 20mm of build-up required, the subfloor was carefully prepared using a full system, including primers, smoothing compounds and an epoxy damp-proof membrane.

Only once the preparation was complete could we begin installing the new herringbone LVT floor.

The finished floor looks great, but the real work happened underneath it.

Because when it comes to flooring, the quality of the installation is only ever as good as the preparation beneath it.

A full refresh for this dining room floor in Birmingham.

The existing wood floor was sanded back, filled, and refinished to bring consistency back into the space while retaining the natural character of the timber.

Using Bona Craft Oil 2K in the colour Snow .uk, the floor was carefully toned to create a softer, lighter finish that works naturally with the room and changing light throughout the day.

Projects like this rely on control through every stage. Sanding correctly, managing the filling process, and applying the finish evenly to achieve a balanced result across the full floor.

A good example of how restoration work can completely change the feel of a space without replacing the floor itself.

One of the most important parts of flooring is knowing when a floor can be restored and when replacement is the better option.

For this project, the existing floorboards had reached the point where replacement would provide the most reliable long-term outcome. Before any new flooring could be installed, the existing boards were uplifted, the structure beneath assessed, and the subfloor prepared to create a stable foundation for the next stage of the project.

This is where experience matters.

Understanding floor construction, identifying underlying issues, and specifying the correct solution ensures the finished floor not only looks right on completion, but continues to perform as intended for years to come.

For the installation, we used products supplied by , with support from and the team, helping ensure the project was built on quality materials.

The installation is only one part of the process. The assessment and preparation behind it are equally important.

When investing in external flooring, what sits beneath the surface matters just as much as the finish itself.

Drainage, moisture, movement in the subfloor, and changing weather conditions all need to be considered properly if the floor is going to perform long term.

For this project at the Mazon Interiors showroom, we installed a fired brick external floor using a full system from , with every stage approached with long-term performance in mind.

We’ve shared the full project on our blog, including the preparation process and why external flooring should always be approached as a complete system.

A new face at Mazon Flooring and Mazon Interiors.

Over the past two weeks, George has joined the team as our Client Experience & Sales Consultant, working across both our Birmingham and Leamington Spa showrooms.

For many new clients, George will now be the first point of contact. From initial enquiries and showroom appointments through to quotations and installation coordination, his role is focused on keeping the process clear, organised, and well managed from the start.

And if you call us and hear a cheerful and confident voice on the other end of the phone, there’s a good chance it’ll be George.

His first two weeks have been a great start, settling into the team well and already getting involved across a range of live projects.

Good projects rely on good communication, and we’re pleased to have him on board.

Welcome George

Thinking of replacing your woodfloor?
You might not need to.

This video shows the sanding and sealing process from start to finish. Removing surface wear, old finishes, and years of use to reveal the timber underneath and bring the floor back into service.

The floor is sanded through multiple stages to create a smooth, consistent finish, before being sealed for long-term protection and performance.

Not every floor needs replacing.
Many can be restored with the right approach.

Sanding and sealing, done properly.

Good flooring is about far more than the final installation.

Every project starts with understanding the space properly. Assessing the subfloor, considering how the room will be used, guiding the right product choice, and coordinating with other trades all influence how the floor will perform long term.

It’s a process built on planning, preparation, and attention to detail at every stage.

From the initial visit through to installation and aftercare, this is what clients can expect from Mazon Flooring.
