You know the old saying: if it looks too good to be true, it quite possibly is.
At Reborn, we manufacture brand-new products and professionally repair, rejuvenate, remanufacture and recycle mattresses.
A mattress is often discarded because one part has failed. The fillings may have dipped, the cover may have become stained or worn, or it may simply no longer provide the comfort its owner wants.
That does not always mean every component has reached the end of its useful life.
Approximately 40% of the mattresses we receive contain components that still retain excellent integrity. Each component is individually inspected and, where suitable, separated, sanitised, repaired or rectified before being given its most appropriate next use.
That does not necessarily mean putting it back into another mattress. Recovered materials can be responsibly used to manufacture:
✅ Outdoor seating cushions
✅ Campervan, caravan and motorhome cushions
✅ Pet beds
✅ Window-seat pads
✅ Foam cut to size
✅ Professionally remanufactured mattresses
Other materials are separated and sent through the appropriate recycling routes.
Most importantly, the customer should always be told honestly what they are buying.
What is not acceptable—and something we see far too often—is an old, dirty mattress simply hidden beneath a new cover and advertised as though it were brand new.
Sometimes another layer of filling is added to disguise dips or create a firmer feel, while the customer has no idea what lies underneath.
That is not professional remanufacturing. It is deliberately misleading.

Don’t be fooled by suspiciously cheap mattresses advertised through social media.
Before buying, ask the seller:
✅ Is it genuinely brand new or remanufactured?
✅ Who manufactured it?
✅ Can they explain exactly what is inside it?
✅ Can they show you the relevant fire-safety test certification?
Anyone manufacturing mattresses for sale has a legal responsibility to ensure that their products comply with the relevant UK fire-safety requirements. A label alone is not proof—ask to see the supporting test certificate or report.
