Furnishing a whole home is about more than choosing a sofa and a dining table.

Lighting, curtains, rugs, storage and delivery all need a place in the plan—and the pieces you already love can be part of it too.

Our new guide walks through the decisions that help the rooms feel connected, comfortable and personal, from checking the layout to agreeing what a furnishing service includes.

Planning a move or renovation in Blackburn or Lancashire? Have a read, and tell us: which room would you tackle first?

Planning to furnish a whole home? Consider layouts, existing furniture, lighting, budgets, delivery and styling with practical advice from Genesis in Lancashire.

Thinking about porcelain flooring but worried it might feel too cold without underfloor heating?

The good news is, in a modern, well-insulated home, porcelain will usually feel cool rather than freezing. The biggest factors are the floor construction, insulation and how consistently the home is heated.

In this post, we break down why porcelain feels cooler, where it works best, and how it compares with LVT.

Beautiful interiors should look good — but they also need to work beautifully in real life.

🏡 What if interior design could genuinely change a young person's future?

When people think about Children's Care Homes, interior design often isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

But it should be.

The environment a child lives in can influence how safe they feel, how well they sleep, how they regulate emotions, and ultimately whether a house feels like home rather than just another placement.

At Genesis Interior Stylists, we've been privileged to work on projects that create spaces which are:

✨ Warm and welcoming
✨ Safe and practical
✨ Durable enough for everyday life
✨ Beautiful enough to create pride and belonging

Every room should give young people a place where they can relax, feel secure and build positive routines.

We've put together a new blog exploring why thoughtful interior design plays such an important role within Children's Care Homes, along with examples of our own completed projects.

👇 We'd love you to have a read.

If you're involved in the care sector, local authorities, supported accommodation or children's services, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

❤️ Because great design isn't just about how a space looks...
It's about how it makes people feel.

🏡 Ever walked into a home that should look beautiful… but something still feels a little “off”? 🤔

Maybe the furniture is expensive.
Maybe the décor is nice.
Maybe everything technically “matches”…

But the space still doesn’t feel calm, balanced, luxurious, or properly pulled together. ✨

The truth is, great interiors are rarely about buying more expensive furniture. They’re about understanding:

📐 Scale & proportion
💡 Layered lighting
🎨 Colour balance & warmth
🛋️ Furniture placement & flow
🏠 How a home should actually FEEL to live in

We’ve written a new blog explaining the real reasons some homes never quite feel right — and more importantly, how to fix it properly 👌

Whether you’re renovating, furnishing a new build, refreshing a single room, or planning a holiday let… this insight could completely change how you approach your space.

Inside the blog we cover:
✨ The real value of hiring a designer
💸 Where clients often save money (and expensive mistakes)
🛋️ Why some homes still feel “unfinished” even with expensive furniture
📐 The difference between decorating vs properly designing a space
🏠 Whether it’s worth it for YOUR project

Whether you’re renovating your forever home, furnishing a holiday let, or starting from scratch with a new build… this will genuinely help.

Designing a space starts long before the furniture arrives.

Swipe through to see how we use moodboards to shape every project — from initial ideas to fully realised interiors.

Each board brings together colour, texture, materials and key pieces, allowing our clients to clearly visualise the direction before any decisions are made. It’s a crucial step in our process that ensures every space feels considered, cohesive and completely tailored.

Whether we’re working on a holiday home, a full renovation or a single room refresh, this stage gives our clients the confidence to move forward with clarity.

We don’t just design rooms — we design the feeling of how they come together.
