The Reed Sea. (Yam Sulp). This symbolises the fleeing Israelites being chased by the Egyptians. In history it is recounted as The Red Sea although it is more likely the Reed Sea in which the Israelites were able to run through the soggy reed beds while the Egyptians on the horse drawn carriages and chariots sank up to their axles in mud; allowing the Israelites to escape.
