Cornish Lawns provide lawn and garden services to homes and holiday lets. We are looking for someone to join us that is physically fit, self-motivated and keen to learn. The role is ideally suited to someone with experience in providing garden and/or lawn care services. During the mowing season much of your time will be spent strimming & mowing small to very large lawns. Please be aware that it’s often hard, physically demanding work, carried out in all weathers.
Core duties:
Lawn & hard surface treatments, scarification, aeration, mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, garden tidy-ups, and other similar services. You must be prepared to work alone after training, which involves driving a 750kg trailer (a trailer licence is not required for this size. Jobs that require more than one person will always have 2 or more person present).
Other tasks:
You should have a keen interest to promote the business wherever possible as you will be required to promote new and existing services to customers and distribute leaflets. You may also be expected to provide customer quotations, collect payments and schedule existing customer enquiries.
Also expected: Maintaining equipment properly, to include sharpening blades, keeping the van and tools clean etc.
Key Requirements:
• Be physically fit and motivated.
• Be able to effectively manage your daily workload.
• Have a full, clean drivers license.
• Be prepared to work alone, particularly on the mowing round.
• Have good communication skills for talking with clients.
• Be prepared to work in all weathers.
• Must be hardworking, punctual, well presented, trustworthy and loyal.
Preferable attributes/qualifications
• PA1 & PA6a Spraying Certificate
• A good knowledge of lawn grass and weeds types (or prepared to learn).
• A good knowledge of plant names and pruning techniques.
• Lawn care experience (experience of treating and renovating lawns).
• Chainsaw certificates.
Hours of work: 730am - 430 /5pm (finishing times can vary a little).
