My name is Kim and I started making soft furnishings in 2003 when I realised my Mum would no longer be able to do it for me (she went to live abroad). I started Applemoon Interiors in 2007 and it has gone from strength to strength. Curtains, Blinds & Cushions are still the mainstay of the business but I am now able to Offer Interior Design and Showhomes into the package. Did you know that cushions are notoriously one of the hardest things to sell, yet they are almost always the secret weapon that ties an entire room together.

Without them, you just have a ‘nice sofa’ and a paint colour. With them you have a curated, thoughtful, and intentional scheme. Small pops of pattern, texture, and colour do a massive amount of the heavy lifting in interior styling.

But I get it! Cushions can feel expensive for what they are, and when you’re totaling up a project budget, they’re often the first things to get cut.

We can make bespoke cushion covers in a cost effective way by sourcing a beautiful, standout fabric for the front and using a clever contrast fabric for the back and piping, we make your investment fabric go so much further. You get luxury design without the luxury price tag.

A little throwback to Abby and I in our Westergate shop a few years ago!

As many of you know, 2026 has marked a new chapter for Applemoon Interiors as I said goodbye to our showroom in Barnham and moved into a home studio.

Whilst it was a big decision, it is definitely the right one. The move gives me more flexibility to focus on what I love most which is creating thoughtful interiors for clients, managing projects and growing the design side of the business.

One thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to beautifully made bespoke soft furnishings.

Abby is still my go to blind lady! But rather unexpectedly, after six years away from it, I’ve found myself back at the sewing machine too! Being involved in the making process again has reminded me just how much I enjoy the craftsmanship behind what we do. 🧵 🪡 ✂️

This photo takes me back to really happy times in the shop with Abby, measuring, pinning, sewing and creating beautiful things from lovely fabrics. Whilst the business continues to evolve, those roots remain very much part of Applemoon.

We often start a new design scheme with the curtain fabric. Maybe it’s my background in curtain making and love of fabrics that makes me start there—but you need to start somewhere, right?

This GP & J Baker fabric was the starting point for this bedroom design a few years ago, and I still love it today. Not just the exquisite design, but the colours they’ve combined. The muted blues and caramel tones are so warming, and they make pairing it with other fabrics and paint choices much more interesting.

The drape of the fabric is something we consider too. This is a very lightweight 100% linen, so it needs careful handling, along with a good quality interlining and lining to help it drape well.

Understanding how a cloth will fall, deciding on the right heading, lining, and fullness, as well as considering colour and pattern, are the decisions that shape how a room feels.

We think we’ve got the relaxed feel of this bedroom just right.

Choosing paint colours is a lot easier when you have something to match them to.

Here we have a stunning Lewis & Wood fabric called Pomegranate in Sea Holly which is a tinge of blue with a tinge of green in it. This will be for the curtains in a living room. We are looking for a neutral for the walls, woodwork and ceiling and a feature colour for some wood panelling.

I think we’ve found the perfect matches right here!
