We are a mother and daughter team, Myriam and Sunny and we run Serendipity Patchwork and Quilting in Bovey Tracey in Glorious Devon. Our shop is full of gorgeous fabrics, sewing notions, wadding, panels, buttons, threads, patterns, kits and lots more. We stock Liberty, Tilda, Makower, STOF, Riley Blake, Cotton + Steel and many others. We also run workshops and courses for all abilities. Our workshop Brochures come out in August and December. On the table this week we had Jill’s quilt to layer up. A lovely, gentle quilt of 8-pointed stars. She hasn’t done an awful lot of sewing before so this was a big undertaking. Very well done.

🎀 Bows! Wonderful bows! Last week we finished the first lot of ‘Giant Bow’ classes and these are the results. Aren’t they absolutely fabulous?
Surprisingly, we only have 1 person booked on for the next short-course so if you’ve been pondering whether to do it or not, there’s plenty of space!
If you’ve want to make it smaller or bigger, that’s easy enough and if you’re struggling to make both dates, we can always accommodate you on a different day to make up. Just chat to us.

🎄Our Christmas Mystery Sewing Box is now available for pre-order with delivery / collection from 1st December onwards.🎅🏼

🎅🏼This time we have included a lovely woolfelt project that’s easy for all abilities and you’ll probably end up making quite a few (we’ve made loads!). You’ll also get pretty christmas fabrics, some handy tools (that we use ourselves), fun embellishments and anything else that we found and thought would be fun in this box. Can you tell I love putting these together???!

🤶🏻They are £30 but their value always easily exceeds £40 and we only include things we’d want to receive ourselves.

💡 We now stock some of the fantastic PURElight magnifier lights in the shop and online.
This is the ‘Cobra’ which is a bendy ultra-bright light as well as magnifier. It’s lightweight enough to wear it around your neck, twist it around your sewing machine or it can even stand by itself.
A great piece of kit for this time of year when you spend more time indoors in the evenings.

💡 I have this one myself and use it with my sewing machine at home. I have an old Elna and the light isn’t great anymore so this ‘Cobra’ light is a godsend.

🎃 Tomorrow between 4 and 5pm, local businesses (including us) are taking part in the annual Halloween Trail.
👻 Each participating business will have a treat (sweets or otherwise) for any dressed up trick or treaters.
🦇 This trail is perfect because it’s not so dark yet, the trail is well-lit and you can get home before dinner time.
🧛‍♂️ Every year since it started it’s been wonderfully busy and it’s lovely seeing all the little ghosties, ghoulish and witches coming in.

We have restocked these lovely ‘Dancing Santas’ - Cushion Kits.

🎅🏼Each kit contains all the fabric you need to make 2 cushions (front and back) as well as braid and wadding. All you’ll need is some cutting equipment and your sewing machine and you’re off! Step-by-step clear instructions take you through the whole process so whether you’re just getting into sewing or have been sewing for years, these cushions are easy enough to make while also looking super cute!

🐢We like to show some appreciation to all quilts that come through our door and especially when the journey to get here has been a bit troublesome to say the least. Sally has done an incredible job. Each pebble is individually stitched on and the gradient is perfect. What an achievement. 🐢
