I’m officially a little bit in love with my new custom-made logo ribbon! 💜🎀

I had this gorgeous ribbon made especially for Melanie Jayne Soft Furnishings by The Ribbon Workshop, and I couldn’t be happier with it!

I’ll be using it to neatly tie up curtains and make them hang beautifully before they head off to their new homes — just a little finishing touch, but I think it makes such a difference. 🥰

It’s those little personal details that I love… because when you’re a small, one-woman business, it’s lovely to put a little bit of me into everything I do. 💜 🪡 🧵

And let’s be honest… who doesn’t love a pretty ribbon?! 😂🎀

✨ More gorgeous blinds & a pair of curtains fitted today! ✨

It’s been another busy day out and about fitting finished jobs 🧵🪡
1st stop Whittlebury & a stunning pair of double pinch pleat velour Grape curtains from Prestigious textiles & then on to fit some lovely blinds in their new homes. 💜

2nd job Towcester, where 3 gorgeous blinds were fitted 1 in a kitchen — in the recess, plus two smaller blinds either side of the front door with side returns.
These were all made in Pure Edit Lewis – Fossil, and I think they look absolutely gorgeous! 🤎

Then over to Hinton-in-Hedges for these 2 stunning bedroom blinds, made in the simply beautiful James Hare Siam – Linen. 🤍

Honestly, what a beautiful fabric! 😍 Such a soft, timeless look and absolutely perfect for a bedroom.

3 very different fabrics, 3 very different rooms… but all looking rather fabulous 💜💜 🧵🪡

I do love seeing everything come together once the blinds & curtains are fitted — it’s amazing what a difference the right fabric can make to a room.

Another few jobs ticked off the list! ✔️💜

🍂 September… here we go! 😂

Schools are going back, the evenings are getting darker and suddenly everyone remembers that the dreaded C word is looming! 🤫🎄😳

And in the curtain world, September to Christmas can only mean one thing…
SILLY SEASON HAS ARRIVED! 🤪🪡✂️

It happens every year as soon as the kids head back to school — the diary starts filling up fast, fabric samples start flying around and suddenly everyone wants their room transformed before the Christmas tree goes up! 😂 🎄

So, if you’ve got a room you’ve been meaning to refresh, new curtains or blinds on your wish list, or that project you’ve been saying you’ll get round to “soon”… now is a pretty good time to get the ball rolling.

There’s no need to panic though — I’m always happy to have a chat, throw some ideas around and help you work out what might work for your space. 💜

Because nobody wants to be choosing curtain fabric while simultaneously wondering where the Christmas presents are hiding! 😂🎄

☔️ Sooo… what’s everyone doing this wet Bank Holiday weekend?! ☔️ typical British weather forecast for a Bank Holiday weekend !!🤣

I’m actually quite excited because I’ve got a girlie day out planned for Sunday 💃🏻💜

We’re off to Grease – The Immersive Theatre Experience in Battersea Park! 🎶🕺🏻💃🏻

I absolutely LOVE a bit of Grease, so I’m really looking forward to getting dressed up Pink ladies here we come (pink rain ponchos at the ready)💗💕 having a giggle and hopefully singing along far too loudly🎤🎶 & the odd tipple or 2!!🍹🍸😂

A little day away from the sewing machine, fabric samples, measuring tapes and general curtain chaos will be very welcome! 🤣

This week has been all about Roman blinds 🪡🧵

It’s been a busy one behind the scenes here at Melanie Jayne Soft Furnishings, with two very different fabrics making their way into some beautiful Roman blinds.

🌿 Clarke & Clarke March Hare – Pastel for a lovely bedroom, bringing in those soft, calming tones.

🌹 And Clarke & Clarke Hortus Rose for the living room — a gorgeous floral that’s going to make such a lovely feature.

Both are now finished, pressed and ready to be delivered to their new homes, where they’ll be fitted by the customers themselves. 😊

There’s something very satisfying about seeing them all finished and ready to go… although I do always find it slightly hard to let them leave the workroom! 😂💜

Another week, another couple of beautiful blinds ready for their windows & another couple of beautiful windows sorted. 💜

Now… what shall I make next? 😉

How are we halfway through August already?! 😳☀️

Things are pretty busy behind the scenes here at HQ at the moment, but I’m not complaining! 😊

Once the summer holidays are over, it won’t be long before the evenings start drawing in and we start thinking about those cosy autumn nights and the colder months ahead. 🍂🕯️

It’s often around this time that we start looking at our homes a little differently too… maybe a room that could do with a refresh, a change of curtains, or simply a few little tweaks to make it feel more cosy.

If you’ve got ideas but aren’t quite sure where to start, I’m always happy to have a chat and offer a bit of advice. 💜

For now though… I’m making the most of what’s left of summer! ☀️😊

🌒😂 Well… that was a bit of a palaver!
When you’re determined to get a decent view of the eclipse through a pinhole… and the only thing you have to hand is a load of cushions! 🤣
So obviously, the solution was to keep piling them up until I could actually see it! 😂
1 cushion… nope.
2 cushions… still nope.
3… getting there!
4… nearly!
5… WE HAVE ECLIPSE! 🌒🙌😂
I’m not sure what’s more ridiculous… the cushion tower or the fact that it actually worked! 🤣
Just a little bit of silliness from my day. 💜

✨ Well… this little transformation turned out rather stunning! ✨

Another job ticked off the list — and I have to say, I’m a little bit in love with these! 😍

Two connecting rooms, two pairs of curtains, one gorgeous fabric… and plenty of measuring, making, fitting and probably a cold mug of coffee along the way! ☕😂

The curtains are made in Laura Ashley Gosford Gold, finished with a classic triple pinch pleat and lined only.
The fabric has such a lovely warmth to it without shouting for attention — it just quietly gets on with looking fabulous! 😉

At the front window I made a shorter pair finishing to the cill, sitting beautifully around the bay. I also supplied and fitted a sleek ceiling-fix track, shaped to follow the bay — because straight tracks and bay windows don't always see eye to eye! 😂

Then at the back, I made matching floor-length curtains for the patio doors, leading out into the garden.
I love how the two rooms now flow together — coordinated without being too matchy-matchy. 🤎

Another measure, make, supply & fit job completed 🙌 🧵✂️

And yes… I’m still happiest when I’m surrounded by fabric! 😂💜
