What a day we had yesterday!

After thinking we’d made the long drive to Carlisle for nothing when Winter Droving was cancelled, we suddenly found ourselves with the opportunity to take part in the Penrith Gathering!

It was lovely to meet so many people and chat about my hand-felted masks and how they’re made.

Robin even found himself being interviewed for ITV Border News and made a brief appearance on the six o’clock bulletin!

And for me, a particular highlight was chatting to Cumbria Guide in this lovely, impromptu interview.

A day that turned out rather differently from anything we’d planned — but what a wonderful surprise!

Huge thanks to everyone who made us so welcome in Penrith, and to for the interview and permission to share it. 🌿

We are aware of the bad weather situation.

Taking this into account we have moved all of our outside activities indoors. The Mansion House stage is in a sheltered area we are regularly monitoring the wind speed for the area and have a thorough safety plan in place for if we need to cancel the area.

Currently our main areas of activity are between:

St Andrews parish rooms replacing the band stand. With live music, puppet show performances, face painting, the start of the Pumpkin trail and table top sale down stairs.

St Andrews Church Craft Fair

Penrith Library downstairs room

The Mansion House Stage

Potfest in the pens (pop on the free bus service running every hour from the bus station)

Penrith Players as the after party venue from 8pm

So glad to be included in the indoor market in Penrith tomorrow. We will be sheltering from the storms in the St Andrews Parish rooms from 11-5!

So sad the Carlisle Carnivale has been cancelled due to the stormy weather.

Sorry for all the performers, stall holders and of course organisers who must be so disappointed after so much effort.
