I've been quiet on here again recently as I'm building a new workshop, so in the meantime here's some experimenting I've done at work today with a piece of Sycamore

Mini laburnum live edge bowl
Always nice to finish a project that has been in progress for a while, I brought this inside to let the Danish Oil set, and 3 months later I've finally got around to taking it back to the shed to remove the foot used to mount it on the lathe!

The little oak burr!
Foraged from somewhere in Cardiff, the burr this bowl was carved from has been sat in the garden for a couple of years now, so it's about time it got turned!
This is just one small part of the larger piece, I've left this one rugged with the bark inclusions and cracks running open through the piece. The next will (eventually) have them filled in and tidied up a bit more, to give them a bit of contrast.
