Why do we self-level even after installing 6mm flooring-grade plywood?

Plywood gives us a strong, stable base, but it doesn’t automatically mean the floor is perfectly smooth.

You can still have slight joins, fixing points, minor differences in board height and small imperfections that could show through the finished LVT.

By applying a suitable flexible smoothing compound over the plywood, we create one smooth, consistent surface ready for the final floor covering.

It’s an extra step, but it’s one that helps us achieve the best possible finish and reduces the chance of joints or imperfections showing through later on.

It’s also worth bearing this in mind when comparing quotations. Not every quote will necessarily include this extra preparation, so two prices that look similar on paper may not be offering the same specification or level of finish.

We’re not just laying a floor to look good on the day it’s installed, we’re laying a floor that’s built to stand the test of time.

Preparation is everything when it comes to LVT👌

Over a year ago, we installed this LVT flooring throughout our client’s hallway. It still looking as good as the day it went down! 👌

Since then, our client has had a brand-new kitchen installed and got back in touch to see if we could continue the existing flooring seamlessly through into the new space.

Using the same flooring, we were able to pick up from the original installation and carry it straight through into the kitchen, creating one continuous finish with no awkward joins or transitions. 🙌

Another great example of why LVT is such a versatile choice for your home.
