Colour can still feel calm and timeless ✨

Good design is always about layering.
In a neutral space, that might be texture and tonal variation. In a more colourful, pattern-led interior, the same rule applies – one element leads, and everything around it supports it rather than competes.

Even when layering patterns, there should always be a sense of balance.

I often reflect on Georgian and Victorian homes – filled with rich colour and intricate detail – yet we still look to them for inspiration today. These elements have truly stood the test of time.

Brook Cottage is a perfect example.
A pink staircase might feel like a bold decision, but when layered with the right tones and materials, it becomes calm, considered and beautifully balanced.

Colour isn’t for everyone, but often it’s not about being brave – it’s about knowing how to use it.

What do you think – are you drawn to colour, or do you prefer a more neutral scheme? 🤍

A traditional country house, ready for its next chapter ✨

Project Waters Upton was built in 1849 – a home defined by soaring ceilings, original mouldings and generous windows that draw in the most beautiful natural light, framing views across the surrounding landscape.

We’re embarking on a full renovation – preserving its heritage while introducing a refined, contemporary layer. Think classic proportions, softened with a modern, timeless feel.

The aim is to create a home that feels elevated yet effortless to live in – thoughtfully designed around the clients, with subtle moments of colour and pattern woven throughout.

There’s so much to consider, rework and reimagine… and I can’t wait to bring you along for it.

These very few of many ‘befores’ capture the scale, character and quiet beauty of what’s to come 🤍

February – a month of momentum ✨

Design deadlines met, birthday celebrations enjoyed, beautiful projects wrapped and new ones quietly beginning.

1. Brook Cottage’s ‘Sunshine Masquerade’ wallpaper by Annika Reed Studio 🌞 Safe to say I’m slightly obsessed – and yes, we share the same name which feels very fitting!!

2–3. A Copenhagen birthday escape. I’ve shown serious restraint narrowing the photos down to these – Nyhavn’s colour-drenched buildings and dinner at Ambra. The interiors, the food, the atmosphere… completely inspiring.

4. The Gaer designs wrapped. So much loveliness in the pipeline – I cannot wait to share more of the scheme and bring you along once work begins on site.

5. A tiny glimpse of something big quietly starting 🫶🏽 Project Waters Upton – coming soon.

6. More birthday celebrations (and perhaps a few too many cocktails) – these margaritas were a solid 10/10 🍸

7. A proud moment for Istigh Interiors – spotting the studio featured in the brochure alongside ✨

8. Project Plowden’s study install is in – and I absolutely love how it’s come together. Just waiting on the final layers (rug and armchair) before sharing it properly.

Grateful for a month that balanced creativity with celebration and progress behind the scenes. March is already shaping up to be another exciting one 🤍

Little details, big personality ✨

Brook Cottage Phase II ensuite is coming to life! Playing with varied tile layouts, and yes… another funky checkerboard, this time in a lovely green and off-white on smaller format tiles. Can’t wait to add the finishing touches – a lovely tap, vanity, dreamy wallpaper, and lighting to really make it sing 🤍

Where play meets personality 🧸✨

This playroom at The Gaer feels light, airy, and layered with soft textures. Off-white joinery and woodwork keep it calm, while olives, khakis and subtle tartan and stripes bring warmth and personality.

Rattan side tables, a linen chandelier and a shaped mirror add character, with gentle metal touches on the piano stool and lamps for a hint of contrast.

Can’t wait to bring this space to life – a lovely corner for a very lucky little boy to play, explore and enjoy 🤍

It’s been a little quiet here… but behind the scenes it’s been anything but ✨

The past month has been a complete whirlwind - the exciting kind. Projects wrapping up, designs being finalised, a trip to Copenhagen, birthday celebrations, and a very exciting new instruction to design a truly beautiful home (more on that very soon…).

For now, some close-up moments from Brook Cottage - currently in one of those beautifully satisfying stages where everything is coming together and looking especially lovely. Which always makes it the easiest (and most tempting) project to share with you.

Lots more to share with you all - from finalised designs and finished rooms across various projects, to a new project which I’m quite sure will catch all of your attention 🤍

Since you loved the hallway… it felt only right to show you what comes next…✨

A glimpse of the landing at Brook Cottage – tall walls, gentle flow and a real sense of pause before the bedrooms beyond. Wall lights and a gallery wall are coming soon, but even now it quietly sets the tone.

Alongside it, a small peek into the girls’ bedroom. Soft pinks layered with blues, patterned wallpaper, scalloped wall lights and picture rail (door and frame still to be painted) – designed to grow with them whilst still young they have bunk beds, a two tiered castle and plenty more still to come!

Which space would you like to see next? 🤍

An unseen corner ✨

Yesterday was spent finalising specifications and measuring for window dressings and soft furnishings at Brook Cottage.

This little corner might look like a void, but it has purpose – it’s where the clients’ existing dishwasher will sit. Rather than integrate it, we’re embracing a more characterful solution with a café-style curtain (fabric still TBC).

It’s these thoughtful details – curves, colour and quirks – that make this home so special. That terracotta banquette in the background will soon be finished with a bespoke seat pad, and it’s already one of my favourite moments in the house.

More to come ✨

Introducing The Gaer 🤍

A Georgian farmhouse with beautiful bones – arched details with panelling, a dark timber staircase and rooms filled with heritage and charm.

We’ll be adding warmth through layered lighting, refining a renovated kitchen with thoughtful finishing touches whilst honouring original features like beam details in rooms and open fires in others.

A home that’s stayed in the same family for generations, and one we’ll be treating with the care it deserves.

More soon 🤍

A busy but exciting start to the year ✨

With some lovely enquiries already coming through, it felt like the perfect time to share this master ensuite from my Petts Wood project which is in Orpington, London.

This was a hybrid design, created for clients renovating their home in stages. While the bathrooms are fully functional, they wanted a timeless design they could return to when the time is right – with bathrooms likely being the final spaces to evolve.

Full-height tongue-and-groove panelling, playful tile layouts using simple tiles, a marble mosaic floor, and classic brass fittings grounded by a black vanity – considered, calm, and made to last.

Swipe to see the elevations and original moodboard.

Thoughtful design now, ready for later.
Save this for inspiration, or drop me a message if you’re planning something similar 🤍

Pretty site updates – proof that the in-between stage can be just as beautiful 👷🏼‍♀️📐

After my story earlier, it seems you guys love the half-finished site updates and are begging to see more. I’m thrilled you’re loving this project just as much as I am 💗 it’s so lovely to share what’s going on and how things are taking shape, even before everything is fully finished and furnished.

The hallway has really come to life thanks to the statement pink staircase – a gorgeous shade from the Paint & Paper Library archive collection, Jaipur Pink. It’s paired with Farrow & Ball Slipper Satin on the walls and French Gray on the panelling and woodwork, and the combination is just chef’s kiss.

There are a few other update shots from various rooms too. There’s still so much to come, so I don’t feel like this is too much of a spoiler… just a little glimpse behind the scenes.

While this project is at this stage, I also have others in their early design phase, like The Gaer, which I’ll hopefully be sharing more of very soon.

What’s your favourite update from these pictures? 💫
