Because a well-designed space isn’t about individual items.

It’s about how those pieces relate to each other.
* The scale.
* The tone.
* The balance across the room.

Even small misalignments can stop a space from feeling settled.
And that’s often the point where people feel stuck.

If you’re trying to pull a room together and it’s not quite working, I can help you make sense of it.

Pinterest is brilliant for inspiration.
But it’s terrible at showing real life.

It doesn’t show:
• where clutter builds up
• whether the layout actually works
• how lighting feels at night
• or how a family genuinely lives in the space

A beautifully designed home should support your lifestyle just as much as it reflects your taste.

Before making any design decisions, ask yourself:
✨ What frustrates me about this room currently?
✨ How do I want this space to feel?
✨ What do I need it to function like day-to-day?

That’s where thoughtful design starts.

I’ve shared more of my process for translating inspiration into a home that feels cohesive, practical and personal in my newest blog.

This is often the difference between a project feeling stressful… or supported.
Because you’re not figuring everything out as you go.
You’ve got guidance from the start.

Ever bought something beautiful for your home… only to realise it doesn’t quite work once it’s in the space?

This is exactly why designers focus on the overall vision first — not just individual pieces.

The most elevated homes are rarely filled with more things.
They’re built around:
• cohesion
• balance
• mood
• flow
• and thoughtful repetition

Often, when clients tell me they “don’t know their style”, they actually do. It’s just hidden underneath years of saved inspiration, trends and impulse purchases.

A good starting point?

Look through your saved images and ask:
✨ What colours repeat most?
✨ Are the spaces light and airy or darker and cocooning?
✨ Do you lean towards clean lines or softness and texture?

Your answers will reveal far more than you think.

I go deeper into how to uncover your personal style and create a home that feels intentional in my latest blog.

Colour is rarely the problem.

It’s how it’s being used.

The same shade can feel completely different depending on light, texture and what surrounds it.

Which is why a considered palette always works better than a single “perfect” colour.

It’s about harmony—not just preference.

If you’re unsure how to make colour work in your home, I’d love to guide you—just get in touch.

A cohesive home doesn’t mean every room has to match perfectly.

In fact, the most interesting homes rarely do.

The secret is connection — subtle threads that carry throughout the house and make everything feel intentional.

That might look like:
• repeating wood tones
• similar architectural shapes
• a consistent colour palette
• layered natural materials
• or lighting that creates the same mood throughout

This is what gives a home that calm, considered feeling people often can’t quite put into words.

And honestly? It’s usually the difference between a home that feels expensive… and one that simply feels thoughtfully designed.

If your home currently feels like separate rooms rather than one connected story, my newest blog breaks down exactly how to approach it.

What’s one thing you wish felt more cohesive in your home right now?

It's all in the detail! It's how as an interior designer I can add value to you. I manage the details, from the best layouts, the right furniture to balance the space, the right colours to evoke the feel you want, the right lighting and colour of lights, the planning, the timings with trades, the bespoke joinery and much much more.

Working up some concept board and mood boards here for a client in Hove. The aim is to build on from the chosen cabinet colours and add some personality whilst being sensitive to the needs of all the family. By repurposing some existing cabinetry it has meant that the client can keep budgets tighter whilst at the same time making it feel their own with their colours and fun shining through. As an open plan kitchen, diner and play space for a younger child it needs to work hard with flexible seating options from a cosy bench nook to extendable dining tables. And of course to maximise the storage (my favourite!)so that the space can be cleared for playtime and maxed out for entertaining. Can't wait to see this one come to life.

This is something I hear often. Nothing is obviously wrong.
There are pieces you like. And yet… it just doesn’t feel how you want it to.

More often than not, it comes down to how everything is working together.
* The layout.
* The balance of the space.
* The way colours and materials connect.

These are the things that are felt more than seen—and they’re usually the missing layer.

If this resonates, I’m always happy to take a look at your space and talk it through—just send me a message.

We often think of interiors as the finishing touch.

But in reality, they’re the foundation.

A home can reduce anxiety.
Support routines.
Help someone feel safe again.

That’s why the work of matters so much — it sits at the intersection of design and real human need.

If you’re interested in interiors, renovations, or simply creating a home that works — this is worth understanding.

I’ve shared the full story in my latest blog.
