Had a wild time…literally building this new decking around a pre-existing swimming pool.… the weather was very much monsoon like, and we found ourselves working in a virtual bog at times….However the sun thankfully came out for the later stages and this finished bamboo decking looks beautiful in the sunshine.

The highlight of this project so far has definitely been this skylight placement; we can’t walk past it without stopping.

The way the light floods in, the way the clouds pass by, it’s an amazing spot to watch a storm!⚡️

We envision our clients sitting on their staircase in the morning, sipping coffee, looking up at the sky.

The small moments of joy from a thoughtful design are everything 👌

Our winter break was pretty magical in the end after some pretty typical change of plans.

We used our time to slow down and take in the views.

We hope everyone else is easing slowly and gently into the new year.

Today, we’re back at Sasquatch HQ and continuing from where we left off on our BIG project.

We’re very much looking forward to showing off some of our nearly finished work as well as what we’re planning for 2022!

For now, I’m just gonna look at our photos from the North (where we spent some of our break) and soak up all the inspiration from our favourite time of year

Sneaky peak of a bathroom project nearing its completion.

The tiny details build up to create a grand feeling.

Bathrooms are one of our favourite rooms to design and make.

We like them to feel like you’ve been transported to a different world when you shut the door behind you.

Forest green and brass certainly achieved that here 🛁

Before the first lockdown started we were really lucky to spend a couple of weeks in Sweden.

We fell in love with the place instantly! You can see amazing design everywhere, from peoples windowsills to the train stations.

It was so peaceful and beautiful, when we got back we kept saying ‘let’s be Sweden’ to each other and it helped us to feel calm when we were stressed 😅

Another one of the many things we took back with us was Fika - it’s got loads of translations and interpretations but when we were out there it seemed to be about slowing down, enjoying company, drinking coffee and eating cake 🥲

It’s something the Swedish do every day and it’s not far off the Tea Break we used to have in the industrial revolution.

(I know people still have tea breaks but this was something in every worker in the country did in the morning and afternoon for 15 minutes 🫖)

Having a little break in the day (as well as lunch!) is really important to us.

I mean we’re a couple trying to start a business, it’s intense 😅😅😅

Maintaining our mental wellness is a top priority, although it rarely feels like we treat it that way!!!

So Fika is something we tried to incorporate into our lives but it’s been hard lately and Sweden feels like a long time ago now.

But this morning Adam went to the coffee shop at the bottom of our road, , and they had these cinnamon buns that we ate for Fika everyday when we were in Sweden 🥲

They are bloody amazing and they’re made fresh every day!!!!

They brought back all the beautiful memories of our trip and reminded us we need to look after ourselves.

It’s funny how a cinnamon bun can have such a profound effect but it’s just a testament to how impactful Fika (or a tea break) can be!

So, as we embark on our biggest project to date, I’m looking forward to more Fika and being more Sweden☺️

Also, the cats really loved the paper bags from so bonus.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks due to external goings on here at SQ, so this job was a little disjointed, but our customers Steve and Anna have been real sweethearts, ready with cups of coffee/cake and a caring ear throughout, this job has been tough and lovely at the same time- and we really appreciate the amazing clients/friends we get to work with- have a great weekend everyone. Be kind x
