Knife sheath for a friend, with instructions to include brown and oak leaves and for the knife to be secure enough to not fall out. To avoid having to use straps and fasteners I've lined it with calfskin which grips the blade really well and also gives a luxurious feel

Neat little sheath finished off for a friend, they don't do reenactment so don't mind that it's a later date. The oak-tanned leather is a little pale right now, but give it a bit of sunshine and it will soon darken nicely

Spending today in Cardiff at the Norwegian church, doing a living history event to demonstrate and discuss viking crafts, happy as a pig in muck because I can spend ages talking about my work without people's eyes glazing over! Some progress on a couple of sheaths, one for a small seax using a 12thC Dublin find in oak-tan, and the other for a modern knife with a request for brown and oak leaves - sorted! Still some work to do on that one though

I've also been busy getting things ready for Butser Ancient Farm Beltaine event next week, these reusable A5 book covers have come together nicely. It also seemed like a perfect excuse to resurrect the toggle system used on Vike turnshoes
