Sometimes you look back and wonder why you stopped doing something. I used to do regular meet the maker blogs when I first started my shop and then I stopped writing blogs. But I've missed them and I’ve missed sharing more with you about the 85 incredible women whose work I stock, so I put together some questions inspired by nature to ask my makers and the first of the series is now online.

My first interview was with a maker who is now one of my closest friends and who helps me run the local BS4 arts trail. She inspires me every day, not just with her beautiful linocuts but with her passion and knowledge of all things bee, bug, butterfly and insect related. She is a fellow nature nerd and allotment lover and an all round brilliant human. I am so proud to support her work. I loved reading her answers to my questions and I hope you do too. What's this, a sunny bank holiday weekend?! Picnic rugs have arrived just in time and lovely new glassware too. Pop in to the shop today or tomorrow from 10am till 5pm. You can pick up a free BS4 arts trail map while you're here too, so you can plan your route for 13th & 14th June.

I'm also starting a monthly Makers Market at St Cuthbert's church from July on the first Saturday of every month. I want to give more people a reason to visit our lovely little high street so that all the great small businesses here can keep doing what we do. Yesterday my daughter Lucy asked for one of my flower presses to press some beautiful flowers she had seen in the garden and it made me so happy to share the joy of flower pressing with her! Something that I discovered when I was a bit younger than her and that still brings me so much joy! Once you start pressing flowers, it's hard to stop. The magic of opening a press a few weeks later having forgotten what you put in it and rediscovering the blooms and seasons preserved inside.

At this time of year, its impossible to go anywhere without seeing so many flowers you want to capture and preserve. I have 3 of my presses full at the moment and will be making up a few more this week. Lucy wants her own personalised one.

Each wooden press is made extra deep and sturdy from high qualtiy wood and laser etched by in Cornwall. They are made to last a lifetime and be handed down from generation to generation. A flower press makes a great gift for siblings to share or for a whole family to use together. I have loved seeing Sybbie using her and Arthur's wooden press to press snowdrops and daffodils.

It feels like time to go back to the roots of what These Two Hands is all about. I haven't posted for a while because it didn't feel polished or perfect or new. I am not a photographer and I am terrible with technology. But when I strip all the noise away to what really matters, this simple photo I took today sums that up. Everything in my collection works best with nature as its backdrop. Everything is inspired by nature and handcrafted using natural materials by women who are passionate about plants like I am. The designs bring the beauty of the outdors inside. They preserve and treasure that beauty to enjoy all year round.

Whenever I see or smell a new flower in bloom, it reminds me of something in my shop. When I put together new collections, they come from something I have experienced in nature. Whenever things feel muddled or I feel anxious, I take a long walk through the woods or spend a couple hours at the allotment and things come back into focus and feel calmer. May is such a joyful month in nature, I want to spend as much time outside as possible! What are you enjoying outside at the moment?

It's a lovely sunshiney start to the Spring Equinox, also known as Ostara. Today there will be equal amounts of day and night. Today is all about renewal and growth. You can celebrate by planting seeds or flowers, lighting candles, doing some spring cleaning or going for a walk in nature. This time of year feels so hopeful and optimistic!

I went for an early run and there was so much birdsong. This afternoon, I am doing a flower pounding craft session with lots of kids at our Spring Equinox story circle in the park and then I will head to my allotment to do some planting and get my hands in the soil. I hope you can get outside and soak in some spring sunshine today. Happy Spring Equinox! 💛

Which are your favourites?

There hasn't been much sunshine so far this month, so I have been finding my sunshine in flower form and in the designs in my shop. In my wild dried wreaths and posies, in Maggie's wooden flowers, in these daffodil cards and in fresh narcissi, and in beautiful art that is sunshine for your walls. Yellow is such a happy colour and these designs bring me so much joy! What gives you some of the joy of sunshine when the sun isn't shining?
