Bird of the Week

September is a month of transition not just for us but also for the birds. The early part of this month marks a transitional period across the UK where summer breeding birds prepare to depart and visitors for the cooler months ahead begin to arrive, and resident species take advantage of ripening autumn hedgerows.

Most birds begin to start munching on berries as the insect numbers begin to drop or you'll find them sticking up at bird feeders before they fly south for some warmer weather.

This is the time of year we'll start to see Swallows and House Martins gathering in large, noisy flocks on telephone wires and over open fields before making their long journey south to Africa! (You can't blame them really!?)

Whatever you're up to over the weekend and wherever you're flying off to - the Wylde birds hope you have a wonderful one!

Whilst we've got our favourite project photographer on the case taking final shots of one of our (finally!) completed workplace design schemes - we wanted to share a sneak peek of what we've created...

We'll stick to close-ups so as not to spoil the big reveal - so here we have some stunning design details! We truly believe that good design is in the details, we design spaces that are innovative, practical and embellish them with textures, artwork and branding to make them stand out from the rest.

From carefully selected flooring tiles, to artworks and acoustics - we are experts in creating places that our clients are proud to call their own, but more importantly, they love to use them.

Our Wyldeology is a process of understanding which flexes to our clients’ needs and requirements. No two projects are the same, and that’s what we love. Finding the unique, innovative and practical solutions to design beautiful spaces that support your people / our clients to work, learn and live better.

Our careful consideration of layout and attention to detail: colour, branding, acoustic fittings and furniture, are just some of the ways we achieve results. Sometimes the solution is a complete refit of a space, other times it’s rearranging existing elements more harmoniously. We’re always looking for opportunities to make what clients already have, work better.

More on this project very soon!

Sofa So Good

And so it’s the Wednesday after a long weekend, schools are back and somehow routines are returning and... honestly, we’re all looking at the sofa a little differently! After a long weekend (and summer!) there’s something rather appealing about a good, comfy seat.

Seating design is, however, about much more than finding somewhere comfortable to park yourself. From the home to the workplace, the way we sit, gather, work and relax can have a surprisingly big impact on how a space feels and functions.

Here's one to soften the start back at work this week after the long weekend.

We're a very busy team at the moment at Dairy Studios, we've got plenty of deadlines and plenty of samples to be going through, plans to draw up and sketches to bring to life BUT that doesn't stop our pauses for some pup time!

We love having our dogs in the office, even if they aren't quite as helpful as they promised they would be.

Did you know that having dogs in the workplace reduce stress, boost morale, and can even improve teamwork? Stroking a dog lowers cortisol and raises oxytocin and dopamine levels. Not only that but there have been studies that show people are perceived as more friendly and approachable when a dog is present in the office and when our furry friends are present there is an increase cooperation and other positive behaviours among members of work groups!

Bird of the Week

And we're off! We're soaring out of the office and into the long, bank holiday weekend! It's been a busy time and we've got multiple exciting projects on the go - so we must admit we're happy to have a three day weekend! It's so important to take time to revitalise our creativity and re-energise so we can be the very best for our clients!

Our ‘Wylde Bird Series’ represents the team’s collective personality. The bird in our brand and the birds we feature and share are symbolic of beauty, innovation, nature, and freedom – all qualities we apply to our work and lives. We love sharing ideas and allow clients to access the breadth of talent across our team.

Have a wonderful long weekend - we'll be back here on Tuesday!

In an increasingly digital world, we still love to draw!

Don't worry - we're not anti-technology, but we do think there is an unmatched value to putting pen to paper. Sketching ideas is truly one of our fortes - an unrivalled way of getting initial concepts and ideas from our imaginations and into a visual reality.

There’s something wonderfully immediate about a sketch. It doesn’t need to be perfect, and it certainly doesn’t need to be finished. A quick line can capture a thought, a scribble can test a layout, and a few minutes with a pencil can help us understand how a space might feel long before we start developing the details!

At Wylde, sketching is often where our design process begins. It allows us to explore ideas quickly, play with proportions, test different approaches and, importantly, communicate an idea to a client without getting caught up in the detail too early. It’s a conversation on paper; something we can draw over, change, challenge and develop together.

Of course, once an idea has legs, technology comes into its own. Plans, 3D modelling, renders and visualisations allow us to refine, test and communicate the design with incredible precision. But we don’t think one replaces the other. For us, the best design comes from combining the freedom and instinct of hand-drawn ideas with the accuracy and possibilities of digital technology.

Sometimes the simplest tools are still the most powerful. A blank sheet of paper and a good idea, that’s often all it takes to get things moving!

More beautiful artwork for the Dairy Studios' walls.

We received this stunning, bespoke moodboard piece from our friends at ! This was one of many beautiful works from the moodboard challenge hosted by Artworks Solutions at Clerkenwell Design Week earlier this summer. These gorgeous moodboards were created by mixing and matching the Artworks x Alto products to create a series of bespoke framed pieces of art.

This art created through the Sample Sessions, where hundreds of graphics, signage and acoustic samples were explored and utilised - is now ours at Wylde. Come see it next time you're at the studio... once we've found a place to hang it!

This week in the Wylde blog we're embracing the momentary respite in heatwaves and soaking in the summer storms set to make their appearance this week! There’s another side to summer that is much more atmospheric; the sudden darkness of a storm, the rumble of thunder, rain against the windows and that wonderful moment when the clouds break and everything outside feels brighter and fresher.

A summer storm brings a much moodier palette into interiors. Think stormy blues, deep greens, charcoal, smoky greys and indigo, punctuated with warmer tones such as amber, ochre or a soft buttery yellow. Used together, these colours create contrast without feeling heavy, particularly when balanced with plenty of natural light and lighter materials.

Did someone say it's time for work?

We know Benny, sometimes we just want to continue playing too - but we've got work to do! That being said, we do take our work-life balance very seriously here at Wylde so we do make time for being outdoors, doing exercise and generally unwinding.

Work-life balance is crucial to the success of our projects because it protects mental and physical health, prevents burnout, and improves our motivation and focus on the job. Maintaining a healthy boundary between your job and personal life also boosts focus, energy, and overall productivity at work.

Have a great Monday!

Bird of the Week

At this time of year in the UK bird life hits a quiet summer lull due to most adult birds undergoing their annual moult - replacing worn feathers and hiding in thick bushes! Song activity drops sharply, and the migratory feathered friends such as swifts and swallows head south, whilst the younger birds forage in noisy family groups!

Growing new feathers drains a bird's energy, making them quiet, secretive, and hard to spot at this time of year - also it makes it harder to fly so many birds avoid open spaces to stay safe from sharp-eyed predators. It's also that time of the summer holidays where we're all feeling a little burnt out and tired - so perhaps a rest this weekend?

Let us know what you've got planned!
